This came to me in after a trip to South Korea to see family during spring break. We went to see the DMZ, and yeah a little idea came into my head. I've been toying around with it in my head and this is what came out. Hope you enjoy.

Kim Yong Soo looked at the DMZ, he hates traveling here. It brings too many painful memories he doesn't want to revisit, he lived through them once and doesn't want to go through them again. Yet here he is following his monthly tradition of visiting the DMZ. How long has it been since he last seen his brother, he doesn't even go to the meetings anymore with their fellow nations. Rumor has it that his once identical twin is no longer even the same gender. He sighed, it's time to head home before the pain becomes unbearable.
"You're halmoni's oppa lives over there he would be surprised to see how big you and your mommy are," Yong Soo turned around, to see an halmoni speak to what he supposed was her granddaughter. "You look just like him if was a girl.."
"Really, will I ever get to meet him?" The little girl asked. Yong Soo felt his breath hitch in his throat and turned away, he knew the answer but didn't want to hear it in the least.
"No, I doubt you ever will. I haven't seen him since I ran away from home to here while he promised to take care of our parents. Even, I don't know how he's doing." The tears wouldn't stop running off his face. No matter how much he tried, it wouldn't stop.
"Halmoni, why are you and that ajushi is crying?" That little girl was too young to understand how painful it was, nor does she deserve to go through such pain.
"It's just some dust in my eyes, it's very dusty up here you know" Young Soo told the girl. "There is nothing to worry about, now you grow up big and strong and take care of your halmoni okay?"
"Yup!"
Author's Notes: many families were split apart right before the Korean war and many Northerners fled to the south, members of my own family included. Maybe one day both Korea's will unite and become one again.
Ugh I'm crying while writing this TT TT. I apologize over the terrible ending
Halmoni: grandmother or a polite way of calling someone an old woman
Oppa: older brother for girls
Ajushi: Mister or man
