I had been the medicine cat in TinyClan for as long as I can remember back then. When Donntastar announced that would step down as a leader at a gathering, everyone was shocked. I took Spottedstar to Jewel Cave to get her nine lives as leader. But not long after she became leader, she had to step down as well. Soon, they were both taken away by twolegs! We tried to save them, but it was no use. The monster drove far away and out of our reach.
Spottedstar would have announced a new deputy after getting her nine lives, but the ceremony had very tiring for her. Petalpaw was supposed to have been made deputy once she began to train her first apprentice as a warrior, but she was too young at the time. Since we had no deputy and no leader, who was left to lead the clan? There was no other choice, except for me. But it had never been done before in our clan's history. I had no choice but to lead. Without someone to lead, our clan would have been gone before they came back.
Healing and leading a clan at the same time was very difficult. I was lucky to have begun training an apprentice before they had left. Songpaw had already completed most of her training when the two former leaders of our clan were taken away by twolegs, so I didn't always have to focus on healing the clan. But she still had some things left to learn from me.
One night, I dreamed of Donntastar and Spottedstar. They were running away from rogues who were part of the Rebuilt BloodClan. Both of them were pinned down and then killed, losing the rest of their nine lives. I begged to StarClan for it to not come true, but no one seemed to hear my cries.
I kept a silent watch for them until I finally saw them again in another dream. They were close to twolegplace, and close to home. Upon waking up, the dream was already coming true. They were close to our clan, but those Rebuilt BloodClan cats had stopped them. Me and Leopardstar organized a group of cats to help, but it was too late. Donntastar was close to death and about to lose her final life. I'm glad that Petalblossom was able to see her mother again before she died.
I know that some cats in CatnipClan miss her. She and Leopardstar were allies. Both of our clans miss her very much. But now that Spottedstar had returned, I knew that I could fully return to the task I trained to do. My time as a leader and medicine cat was finally over.
