I was beginning to understand all of the gaangs relationships. It's not very hard, Katara definitely expresses her feelings, you know like when she threatened me. She was the motherly one who looked after everyone she treated Toph like her little sister, Sokka, obviously, like her brother, and Aang like a friend, but I think she likes him, because he's kind of the reason she threatened me.
Aang was the youngest, no I'm not counting the 100 years he was in an iceberg, who tries to be friends with everyone, and is totally in love with Katara.
Sokka and Toph took the longest to figure out. Sokka was obviously very protective of the gaang especially his sister and he is very sarcastic, Toph is Aangs teacher but, she's loud, sarcastic, and says what's on her mind.
But all of that changes when there around each other, Toph's voice drops, and gets softer. Sokka and Toph always go off and talk or just do things together. Me and Toph actually got pretty close so I asked her about it once.
"Why do you and Sokka always go off alone." She looked up at me, she stayed quiet for a while. When I thought she wouldn't say anything, "We talk." she said plainly. "Why Sokka?" I asked. She shook her head, "Because…" She paused and sighed "Why do you want to know anyway?" She asked looking annoyed. "I just think its weird."
She gave me a weird look, "What that I can be myself around Sokka?" I stared at her surprised as I saw a blush creep to her cheeks. "Oh." I said, "I though you two were dating." Of course that resorted in Toph turning red then punching and storming off.
Like I said it took me awhile to figure out there relationship, but when Suki, Sokka's real girlfriend, returned, I figured it out. Toph and Sokka are best friends, but Toph has a crush on him, and even though he doesn't know it yet I think he likes her too.
Why, you ask well, when there around each other they let there walls down, even if they don't know it. He's told her things he would never tell his own girlfriend. How he looks at her makes me pity the person who tries to hurt Toph. They might not be together yet but it's only a matter of time before there friendship turns into more.
