Sybill was stirring the tea leaves at the bottom of her cup. Her hands remained clammy. The anxiety kept her awake, but she could not place the source of her feelings. Her hair was knotted from tossing and turning. The thick glasses amplified the puffy bags lining her eyes. Gliding against the edge of the ceramic cup, the spoon created a hum. Sybill's eyes grew heavy and cloudy until she drifted off.

..xXx..

In the dream she was elegantly floating through a bright fog. The moisture kissed her cheeks and brushed through her tousled hair. Time seemed absent here and there was nothing else around her. Distant laughter and joyous chatter came from all directions. Sybill twirled around to locate the source. She smiled and continued drifting as she carelessly dreamed for the reason of the heartfelt voices.

When the voices stopped, she frantically swam around. Finally, she saw something floating towards her. It glistened and twisted. Once within reach, she saw that it was a brilliant necklace. The chain was made of white gold with the center having a large, deep sapphire between two crimson stones. She delicately held the chain to her face to eye the detailing.

There was a sudden clash of thunder and the air around her thickened, turning foul and grey. The metal heated her hand until it glowed red. Releasing it, the metal started melting over an unseen fire. Each chain link disintegrated into the air starting from the finely crafted clasp down to the gems.

The three gems hovered with her for a time. Again, the air changed and her and the gems began to fall. The air was beating hard against her face. The force was great enough to rip away her glasses and she was falling blind.

..xXx..

On her couch, her body contorted. The cup, resting in her lap, was flung to the carpet. Her body was rigid and detached from her control. Her eyes were looking into an unseen world. The voice that came forth was foreign. It was deep and hoarse.

"On a calm sunny day, kind and beautiful, a shadow will rise. Crushing the day's happiness. A merged family will know the crippling weight of the dark cloud, coming upon us. Tyranny will rise, unity shall fall. Today marks a day of ruin and despair. The battle for the new age begins. One by one the links will melt away. No one can hide…." The voice faded away. Sybill's body collapsed onto the couch.

She woke heavily perspiring and gasping for air. Comfort seeped back into her mind. She looked around to find her thick and dated drapes, scattered textbooks, and numerous crystal balls. She adjusted her lopsided glasses. Seeing the shattered teacup on the floor, her chest tightened. Looking at the remains, was a lurking grim formed in the leaves. She stood and moved towards the window. Contrasting to the warm morning, a shadow was looming above. She feared her dream was true.
