Never Say
By SkotosEnigma
Her husband was starting to get suspicious.
And really, who could blame him? He had every right to suspect something was going on, because it really was.
He didn't know what, of course. He never would, if it was up to her. She had a daughter now, she had a responsibility towards her family. Her husband and her child.
But they weren't enough.
She was grateful for the fact that her husband worked behind a desk at the ministry. She was an auror, though a poor one.
Almost every week she had the chance to capture one of the most wanted and dangerous Death-eaters, and every week she let him go.
And she was about to do it again.
It had all started at Hogwarts. It had been exciting because it had been forbidden, she a Gryffindor, he a Slytherin. No one had ever heard of Death-eaters then, or shuddered when someone said the Dark Lord's name.
They glared at each other in the hallways but moaned each other's names in a deserted classroom only a few hours later.
The house was old, dark and musty. There were leaks, covering the corners with mold and the wallpaper was faded where it still clung to the wall. The stairs creaked beneath her weight as she mounted them.
A small fire was burning in the fireplace of the room, but what stood out most was the bed. It was a dark mahogany, carved beautifully and covered with green silk sheets. She remembered her surprise the first time she had seen it. His answer had been a chuckle, a kiss in her neck and an amused 'What did you expect? I'm still a Slytherin.'
She sat down on the bed, taking off her dark cloak, letting it fall to the floor. The light of the fire reflected of her ebony hair that reached almost down to her waist, her skin was pale, her hands trembling.
They had a few unspoken rules when they met each other.
Never speak of the war.
Never speak of Home.
Never say 'I love you.'
She felt like she was going to cry, but her almost-tears were soon forgotten when she felt the bed sag beneath another weight and someone wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her against a hard chest.
"Evan." She whispered, lost in the sensation of him touching her, of him gently removing their clothes until every inch of his skin was touching hers.
"Andromeda." He whispered, as they made love, slowly at first, then more passionate. They writhed together, moaning and gasping, until the first light of the sun touched the horizon and they were so exhausted they could barely move.
"Evan?" She whispered again, turning her head a bit to look at him. He lay spooned behind her, arms wrapped around her waist tightly and his eyes closed.
A muffled groan was her answer, and she smiled, turning in his arms so she was facing him.
He opened his eyes, a gaze as green as poison, looking at her as if he knew she was about to break one of their rules.
"Evan,….I lo-"
"Don't." His voice was cold, his eyes shining was pain, determination and something she could only hope and long for.
"Don't say……I love you." He whispered, softly stroking her cheek.
"And don't say…….I love you too." She answered, crying softly.
A/N: This is what you get when you listen to too much AFI and Sarah McLachlan. But anyway, I really love these two together for some reason.
