Just a little one-shot really. Doesn't fit into anything else I suppose. Basically a little interaction between Miranda and her girls where she has a thought that she could be compared to a lowly spider.
Un-beta'd of course, it's just a drabble essentially…
"MOM!"
Miranda jumped a foot in the air, rolled in the sheets, and fell off the bed, legs still entwined in said sheets.
"MOM HURRY!"
Miranda started to panic and almost ripped the sheets trying to get loose. She ran from her room into the twins'. She caught herself on the doorframe with her hands to keep from falling into the room.
"WHAT? What is it?"
"SPIDER!"
Miranda let out a sigh of relief mixed with exasperation and a little agitation. "Alright. Where is it?"
"There! On the wall!" The twins yelled out in unison both pointing at the far wall.
"Oh, well that's not too big."
"IT'S HUGE, MOM!" Cassidy screamed in opposition.
Miranda walked over to the spider and picked it up by a leg. "It's just a Grand-daddy long-leg. It won't hurt you."
"Still! It's gross and big!" Caroline stated as firmly as she could while still being a bit scared.
"Fine. If you would like, you can come downstairs with me and we can put him outside." Miranda started towards the door.
"Just kill it, mom!"
"Now, now. Just what did this poor spider ever do to you?" Miranda shook her head and held up the spider.
"It scared us…" Cassidy said in a meek tone.
"And it's just ugly!" Caroline bluntly blurted.
"But are those reasons to kill it?" Their mother raised her eyebrows and tilted her head to the side.
"No, guess not." Both twins rolled their eyes heavenward.
"Alright then. Shall we?" Miranda waved a hand towards the door and motioned the twins ahead of her.
As they were walking down the stairs, Miranda began to think about the twins' reasons to kill the spider. "…scared us…just ugly…" Her former husbands had used both of those reasons for divorce, most recently Stephen, and is some cosmic sort of way, she felt a connection to this lowly spider. It made her feel good that this creature got a second chance at life instead of having someone crush its heart, too.
