You know who's a real bastard? Wufei. A complete, total, pig-headed, stuck- a-broom-up-his-own-ass bastard.
I'm sure you'd *love* to know why, too. Well, I'll tell you why.

I'd thought that old philosophy had died out ages ago- but then, Wufei was raised in an old-style Chinese clan, and those people can hold on to a bad idea for centuries. And apparently, they have. I mean, communism. it's evil. It's a bad, horrible thing. Terrible atrocities have been committed in the name of communism, millions of people have died trying to eradicate it. it has to be wrong, right? And Wufei, of all people. he's so caught up with "good" and "justice" - how could he be communist? Yet he says he is, PROUDLY! Blind jackass. I'd never figured *any* of my friends as Reds. Who still living today seriously follows communism?
Come to think of it. What *is* communism? I've heard about it, but it's just a blank term. kinda synonymous with "bad". In my training, I think they covered it as "a concept or system of society in which the major resources and means of production are owned by the community rather than by individuals."
That doesn't sound so bad. I mean, if they shared things like that on L2, nobody would starve, and there might even be enough immunizations to go around. I *know* the doctors hoard the drugs for the rich. And some of those big houses on the other side of the Dock Block could have housed three streets-worth homeless people. And if no one personally owned stuff, it was just general; nobody would bother with graffiti either. Not that I mind graffiti, now, just. we might attract more business and tourism in L2 if it wasn't quite so trashed. The rocks through hotel windows kinda throw people off, you know? And while *I* can sleep through gunshots pretty easy, most rich people have a problem with it. I saw some business reports for L2 once- soundproofing was the fifth most profitable business. It came right after training attack dogs, security systems, and armed guards. The two most profitable businesses, of course, are prostitution and drugs. But the rich keep the rest o' the economy floating all by themselves. Yep, all .3% of them. That damn .3% has enough money to save every kid who dies on those streets today. And enough left over for the next day. And the next. And the day after that.
But who am I kidding? No rich dudes are gonna share that much, willingly. And history shows that communism never worked, people are just too selfish. Or are they? That could be a weakness in the theory.
Under Communism, I wouldn't get paid squat for my mecha-pilot capabilities. I'd get the same as a grunt. But I worked a hell of a lot harder than that grunt- I deserve more pay! Under that equal pay system, why bother? And if everyone could see that. no wonder communist countries always closed their borders. If they didn't, all the smart people would walk! But in theory, Communism is pretty cool. And my "democracy" didn't work too well under stress, though it worked better. Look what happened to Rome. Look what happened to America! If I look at it right, all governments are built on idealism. Some are just dreamier than others.
That makes Wufei an idealist. Big whoop. Everyone knows that, what with his justice craze.
