The sun rose high in the clear blue sky even a few birds glided on the warm summer in the park the children were running up and down through the grass while their parents were sitting under a few trees with their hands filled with drinks. It was noon on a Saturday in the summer the time where everyone decides to come out and enjoy the sun and what warmth it brings.
As laughter filled the air one woman remained quiet as her eyes remained fixed on a puddle of water on the sidewalk, it hasn't rained within a week's time and yet here it was. The grass was barely wet it held just enough moisture to help it grow even the trees held a bit of moisture upon them as well. But the sidewalk was dry with only this puddle remaining.
The ebony lass continued to stare at the puddle at first it showed no reflection, but as her eyes remained fixed on the puddle it steadly grew darker until it was pitch black. Soon the sound around her faded away the moment she caught a glimpse of her own reflection.
A single tear slid down her cheek as she felt her heart clenched tightly in her chest. Yet as her hand wandered closer toward the puddle it froze when a voice in the distance called out to her. No matter how loud the voice became she refused to pull away from the small pool of liquid.
"Bill." A stern voice said.
Soon a reflection of an older man with silver hair and stern green eyes wearing a maroon velvet blazer stood beside her.
The moment he laid his hand on her shoulder Bill tore her eyes away from the puddle and looked directly at him.
"Doctor…." Bill managed to say.
"Are you alright?" The Doctor asked.
"Yeah….um I just...never mind." Bill stammered.
The Doctor could see it in her eyes it was the same as him. The pain he felt after losing someone close even now he still refused to say her name.
"Alright then let's get back to the TARDIS." The Doctor instructed.
Bill nodded she looked back to the puddle to find her reflection gone as the water returned to its clear state. An agitated sigh left Bill's lips as she walked away.
The Doctor's eyes looked back down at the puddle, he slipped his sonic screwdriver from his pocket and briefly hovered it over the small pocket of water. His eyes narrowed when the puddle grew dark and a pair of eyes looked right back at him. Noticing the star defect in one of the eyes the time lord merely straighten his blazer and cleared his throat.
"You must stop this it isn't healthy for either one of you. She is safe I assure you and who knows we may encounter you again, but not today so I must ask you to let her go." The Doctor said in a stern yet soft tone.
The eyes blinked a few times before fading back into the puddle, it bubbled for a few minutes before slowly evaporating.
"Doctor!" yelled Bill.
The timelord's eyes shot up to the TARDIS where Bill and Nardole stood outside waiting for him. He gave them a nod and moved in their direction. With a snap the door opened and Bill stepped inside followed by Nardole. The moment The Doctor reached the door he stood there for a moment with a blank look across his face.
Are you alright?" Nardole asked .
The voice shook him back into reality as he gave his friend a smile.
"Yeah…I was just thinking." The doctor replied.
As the timelord stepped inside the door closed, he made his way over to the control panel where Bill stood on his right with Nardole on his left. With a nod from everyone he pulled the lever and within that moment a light shiver washed over Bill as a familiar voice rang out in her mind.
"Until we meet again…"
Bill's face held a smile as the blue police box disappeared from view.
