Crimson Curse
A Saiyuki poem

Wine-red are my eyes, blood-red is my hair,
Signs of 'taboo' that cause the people to stare
Some just stare at me, others cower in fear
Some make comments almost impossible to hear.
A human. A youkai. Between them I was born
And after a few years these signs were then shown
My mother hated me, and me she tried to kill,
'This curse' she said, her anger wasn't filled.
I passed day by day enduring the pain,
My name is Sha Gojyo, and I know I'm in vain
In my mother's heart, as if I was a thorn
Sometimes how I wish I wasn't born!
One day— long ago, something happened to me
My youkai mother with her clawed hands up high in front of me
I thought 'this is it'; goodbye to this world
And I closed my eyes without saying a word.
In a split of a second I opened my eyes
'Am I in heaven'? But the thought suddenly dies
There in front of me, the corpse of my mother
And I looked farther, standing—crying— it was my brother.
Tears pouring down from his eyes,
My half older brother had rescued me
But his tears weren't for me, it was for my mother
And now she's dead, but I guess I can't bother.
And after that he then left me,
The crimson sea continues to flow
And I was alone, but I have to move on
Even if everyone will be gone.
