Fidget and Olivia were helping Basil clean up and Fidget made a mess and forced Olivia to clean up his mess and Basil saw all that is happening and Basil was not very happy with Fidget bossing her around! How immature and bossy of a peg legged bat like Fidget!
"Fidget, I'm not cleaning your mess and you can't make me!" Olivia scolded, "So YOU clean up it up!" But Fidget obviously dismissed it as "back talking" and acted tough, fuming as if he was an authoritative parent, who was about to punish a child, but out of spite, "Olivia! You know how I handle naughty kids who talk back? I break things in order to make them clean up their attitude!" In a fit of rage, he threw things, but Olivia stopped him and she pushed him. "Fidget! No! Stop!"
Olivia removed the bat from the situation by dragging him to a chair.
"You're not going to hurt me, are you?" Fidget asked fearfully as he stood up and gulped. "This hurts me more than it hurts you!"
"I'm not scared of you and this is what you get!" she retorted. "If you don't start cleaning up YOUR mess, you won't get a cheese crumpet!"
"You see, Fidget?" Basil demanded sternly, "This is what happens to slobs when they refuse to clean up after themselves and make other people do it for them!"
"Okay! Okay! I'll clean up!" Fidget surrendered, taken aback.
Before he did, Olivia said softly, "Wait a minute."
Fidget stopped for a moment.
"What do you want to do first: Clean up or get a cheese crumpet?"
"Clean up, but may I have some water?" Fidget asked Basil, "I'm hot."
"I figured," Basil observed, "It's hotter in here than I have imagined." Then, fetched the bat a glass of water. "There you go. It'll give you enough energy."
"Thanks."
As Fidget cleaned up his act, he felt better. When finished, he brushed the sweat off his face.
When the bat finished cleaning up, Fidget announced, "I know why I was punished because my temper would've gotten me in trouble."
"Right and you are not alone, Fidget," Basil admitted softly, "I myself feel the same way."
"I promise I'll behave," Fidget promised.
"Alright," Olivia said as she rubbed his back when he showed some sense, "It's over. You picked the right choice."
"Have a seat and settle down," Basil said.
"Have a cheese crumpet, Fidget, before sitting down," Olivia said, pointing toward the table, which urged Fidget to grin and pluck a cheese crumpet and thanks to him, everything was back to normal.
"Would you like some tea to go with it?" Basil asked Fidget.
"Sure," Fidget nodded with a smile, forgetting all about his mess he made and Basil brought him a teacup and the bat had finally got a chance to eat his crumpet and drink his tea in peace.
Olivia and Basil also ate up their crumpet and drank their tea. Presently, all three of them clinked their teacups all at once.
The End
