Makoto looked down at the sweet face resting on his shoulder. With a soft smile he readjusted Harus head to a more comfortable position. Harus lip twitched slightly from the movement, but nonetheless he stayed fast asleep.
There wasn't much people on the train today, and Makoto couldn't blame them. The sun was barely rising and he would much rather be in bed, but Haru was insistent on showing him the waterfall that he considered his "first love".
Makoto chuckled at the memory of that night when Nagisa decided to play a game of truth. When the die landed on Harus name, Nagisa had asked who his first love was. Of course Makoto expected Haru to shrug of the question, but surprisingly he talked of a time when he was younger and his parents took him hiking. Makoto had to swallow the lump in his throat as his crush described his so called "love", luckily Haru was talking about a waterfall. Makotos smile widened with the memory of immense relief as everyone realized he wasn't talking about a person.
"Next stop coming up. Please step away from the door." Makoto was snapped out of his reverie by the automated voice coming from the intercom. Just a few more stops till their destination.
"Haru, wake up." Makoto gently shook the smaller boys shoulder so that he could wake up. Harus eyes opened slowly, carefully taking in his surroundings.
"Makoto, where are we?" He righted himself up, but still kept his body close to Makotos.
"Were on the train. Remember we are going to visit your "first love"." Makoto added quotations to his last words, his voice hinting annoyance.
Haru blushed and bowed his head "That wasn't my first love."
Makotos eyes widened in surprise. "What did you say?"
"I said that wasn't my first love."
Makoto once again felt his chest tighten, just like that one day. "Well then who was your first love?" He knew his words sounded uncaring, but he couldn't bring himself to even look at Haru right now.
"It was you." Haru said matter of factly.
Makotos head snapped towards Haru who was purposely trying to busy himself with the bags he had brought for the trip.
"W-what did you say?"
"You were my first love." Haru mumbled as he stood up and put on his cap and backpack. "Let's go." Haru ordered, stretching his hand towards Makoto.
Makoto looked up at Haru who was looking out the windows, at the slowing scenery. Although he had a cap on, Makoto could still see the pink tinge lining the edge of his ears.
"Me too." He admitted sheepishly. He scratched the back of his neck nervously, waiting for Harus reaction.
"That's good." Haru offered a small smile and stretched his hand further toward Makoto.
Makoto smiled and grabbed Harus outstretched hand, not planning to let go anytime soon.
