It was just before dusk and Maru floated down a well traveled dirt road in a black hooded robe. The night's wind blew in a wild and untamed manor but oddly enough the wind encircling Maru lay perfectly still. Her silvery blue hair lay on her back completely untouched and her normally amber eyes were cloaked by the darkness the thick clouds overhead had ensnared. Maru's pet falcon shuffled restlessly on her shoulder every time her scythe she held in her hand came near it.
"I can't see a thing" said Kagome as she searched through her backpack for a flashlight as her black hair whipped in her face.
Inu-Yasha looked around and found a cover of some trees. "We'll rest here tonight" he announced as he walked in the direction of some trees. "It's going to rain soon, I can feel it" he added.
"Rain?" Kagome whined as she followed him as best as she could. "You mean I'm going to get all wet?"
"No there is dense tree cover up head we shouldn't get wet." He said as he reached the trees and sat down. Miroku had followed in silence with Shippo clinging to his back.
Kagome plopped down next to Inu-Yasha and continued to rummage through her bag. "I was certain I had packed a flashlight" she said to herself.
A few minutes later Kagome found her flashlight and looked up turning it on. The light cut through the darkness but reflected something shiny. "It's the Grim reaper!" Kagome screamed dropping the light.
Miroku stood up "No it's a beautiful woman" he said blocking her scythe with his staff and grabbing her hand. He looked down at the hand he held and let go "Crap its Sesshomaru " he said jumping back and getting ready to fight because Inu-Yasha was currently a in his human form.
"My lord? Where!" Maru said excitedly as she searched the darkness for the one she absolutely adored. The barrier that held her demonic aura in check dropped leaving her vulnerable to the night's fury.
After a few minutes of reassurance that Sesshomaru wasn't anywhere near them she sat down disappointed that he wasn't there.
"So why would a beautiful woman, like yourself, be wandering alone on a night like this?" Miroku asked going for her butt. But his plan failed when her bird bit him.
"Oh well I'm searching for a mutt named Inu-Yasha so I can kill him and bring his head and sword to my Lord." She said proudly.
Before Inu-Yasha could react Kagome said "Ohh how interesting but I'm sorry we don't know anyone named Inu-Yasha…" She shoved Inu-Yasha into the darkness trying to make him disappear before Maru could see him.
