A/N: Hey everyone, here's just a little taste of what Loki's life was like before he was taken to Asgard by Odin.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Avengers or any of the characters.
Beloved
By the Norn's he was perfect, Laufey thought amazed as he gently caress the babes face. He smiled softy as he elicited a happy gurgle from the baby. Gesturing over for his life mate to come closer, Laufey pulled Fárbauti onto the bed beside himself. Handing the newborn child to him, Laufey chuckled at the helpless expression that had formed onto his mates face. Showing him the correct way to hold their child once again, Laufey smiled contently as he watch the two interact with each other.
Laufey was pulled out of his musings when heard little taps that echoed across the floor, which seemed to be making a bee way straight towards them. The bed bounced slightly when a small body crawled and snuggled between the two parents. Gazing down at their firstborn Byleistr, he whispers softly, "Would you like to meet your little brother little one?" Receiving an eager nod and a "yes please." Laufey pulled the child securely onto his lap and let him admire his new little brother.
Carefully reaching out, Byleistr gently traced the intricately delicate lines of the royal family that marked the babes face. His new little brother was so small. Byleistr was almost afraid his brother would shatter if he continued to trace his lines. However when his sire encouraged him to hold the baby, a delighted grin broke out on his young face when his brother gripped his finger tightly with his tiny hand and gave him a toothless smile.
Looking over to watch Fárbauti show Byleistr how to hold the baby, Laufey asked him what they should name their child. Fárbauti thought about the possible names they could give him for a moment and was about to reply when Byleistr interrupted him by blurting out that they should name his baby brother, "Loki."
Both parents momentarily pausing their thoughts on the matter glanced down at their first-born. Laufey studied Byleistr for a second and asked him why they should name his younger brother that.
"Because in the ancient language our ancestors used long ago, the word Loki meant beloved and we all love him right? I know I do and he's now a precious member of our family and I'm his big brother. Which means that I'll always look over and protect him no matter what," proudly replied Byleistr, giggling when the newly dubbed Loki cooed back at him in reply to his previous statement.
Glancing over at his husband, the two of their shared a knowing and proud look between each other, both of two parents agreeing out loud with Byleistr that the name Loki was a wonderful one for their second-born child and they loved both of them so very much.
Puffing his little chest out, Byleistr began to tell Loki of all the wonderful things about his new home and that he couldn't wait till he was able to show him what their world looked like. Finally tiring himself out, Byleistr curled himself around Loki and struggled to stay away with him. When he could no longer keep his eyes open, he whispered one last thing to his new brother, "I'll always love you Loki, no matter what."
Looking down fondly at the two youngest members of their small family, Laufey and Fárbauti watched on contently, not knowing of what fate would have in store for them in the near future.
The End
