Prologue
Ichigo lay sprawled on his bed, staring blankly out the window. Five days. It had been five days since Uryù had . . . had . . . A chocked sob escaped his throat.
"It hurts, Uryù. Its hurts so fucking bad. It feels like a part of me has been ripped away. God, do you know how much I miss you?" Ichigo curled into a ball, his sobs turning to wails.
A tentative knock sounded at the door. Not bothering to wipe his eyes, Ichigo told them to leave. His father opened the door slightly and peeked in. "Are you alright, son?"
Ichigo stared at the older man. "All right!? Am I alright!?!" he snarled. "I lost the person I love the most and you ask me if I'm alright?!!"
Isshin sighed. "Stupid question, huh? He walked in and sat down on the bed. "You may not believe me, but I understand what you're going through. I lost your mother remember?"
"At least you didn't kill her!"
His father frowned. "You didn't kill Uryù! What happened was not-"
"Was not what?! My fault?!? But it was! If I hadn't-hadn't-" Ichigo sobbed, burring his face in his hands.
The stars shone far brighter then they should have. Or so Ichigo thought. His father had told him to take a walk so he could sort out his thoughts. A lot of good that does, he mused.
Ichigo had lost a lot of weight and muscle tone over the days. Urahara had asked him to come over to train, but for the first time, he found he no longer had a reason to. After all, the person whom was most important to him was gone.
There were to many things that reminded him of Uryù. The moon, aloof, pristine, more glorious then even the sun. The sun brought light to the whole world, but it did not, could not, stand before the darkness like the silver apparition did.
Ichigo chuckled as he watched a cat cross his path. Just like the moon, and the cat, to not let another too close to them. So near, yet so far. Cold, yet beautiful. "Just the opposite of me," he thought out loud.
"They do say opposites attract one another."
Ichigo spun around and froze. "Uryù."
Well that's it for chapter one. Sorry about how short it was. I had mager wrighters block for a while Hope you liked it anyway. I will try to get the second chapter out as soon as I can, but what with three other people in the house and only one computer it might be a little while. Please R&R. ;)
