Roy looked up a the girl on the swing. He stopped doodling the transmutation circles Professor Hawkeye had shown him today, and asked, very simply, "Why?"

"Well, you know, when grown-ups see each other a lot, like Mommy and Daddy, they're in love, right? Well, I see you a lot, so that means I love you, too, right?" She looked up at him, daring him to refuse.

She pulled out of her thoughts, wondering what brought up that memory now. She smiled at her younger self's bluntness, and looked to the man in front. He turned to look at her and smiled.

"We're grown-ups now, Riza, and I love you, too."
