Markus observed her in silence, amazed. He had never seen a more beautiful woman in his whole life.

Valerie Blaylock, his six month pregnant wife, was sitting there, playing the piano.

The soft melody reminded him of a lullaby, and immediately melted his heart. She was so beautiful…

She looked up, never stopping her hands and smiled tenderly.

"She likes it when I play the piano, she stops moving and I can relax better" explained, and Markus knew she was taking about their baby. Unable to speak, he just nodded and put his head under her arm, close enough to pose his cheek on her tummy. A little movement there made his insides tingle with pure love. This was much more than he would have ever dreamt with.

Valerie kept playing. One song, two songs, three songs…

Her hands never stopping, Markus couldn't help but notice how gifted those hands were. They did everything he could think of. Valerie saved people from dying everyday with those hands. She could cook, clean, play any kind of sport (independently of her being good at it), was good with handicrafts, and on top of that, she was good at playing the piano. Her hands were never as alive and magical as when she payed the piano. Not even her hands using the Healing Touch were more entrancing than that.

Then she finished her last song, and Markus couldn't help but smile, and kiss her, kiss her so deep so she could understand all the things he just couldn't put into words. How much he loved her, and how happy he was that she was there with him…

[…]

Markus Vaughn opened his eyes slowly, to the melody of a lullaby. A quiet breathe near him, and the sound of a clock in a nearby room. He looked around.

He was at Valerie's house. She had invited him to dinner, and she had offered to play the piano for him, just a couple of songs. Right… That was just a dream…

He got to his feet and sat next to her, her hands never stopping, just like in his dream. She smiled a little.

"You look so peaceful, Markus, when you sleep… You had that beautiful smile of yours you never let people see. Were you dreaming something nice?" he smiled at that.

"Yes… Yes, I was dreaming, and it was beautiful. Thanks, Val… You… You play so well, it's, it's lovely. I love it, truly." she blushed a little

"Why, thank you…"

He embraced her, softly, and she just giggled when he hid his face on the crook of her neck, sighing softly. He wouldn't say it then, but he will always remember how close he had been, in that moment, to tell her the truth…

How much he loved her, and her piano hands.
