"Wait, wait!" He stopped, shaking his head, then, he began again "I think now i got this... " In a silent murmur with determined voice he said. Eyes focusing on his fingers.
"No, no, no! You're doing it all wrong!" She screamed, quite impatient, but still in a good mood "Let Tenko do it!" She saw how he refused to. The third person laughed.
"I said, I got this! I'm the one how has more practice!" He shouted.
"Ahm, no? That's obviously Akamatsu-san!" She replied back. The blonde one tried to speak.
"Just because I have more experience with instruments doesn't mean I'm the best at it"
"Say that to your title!" Momota said quite violently, Chabashira noded almost immediately with strong energy. She cracked a grin.
Akamatsu's day was just as usual. Check on amami, check on the others, prepare the meal, and —sometimes— organize the files. Then she would be free for the rest of the day.
Is not like amami gave her those tasks, no, Akamatsu compromised herself by trying to help with simple tasks on a daily basis. She is doing her best so Amami's anxiety wouldn't increase becoming worse. He had enough with taking care of the recordings and debates, getting less sleep and not leaving the room. Even Akamatsu need to bring him his meal, otherwise he could forget to eat. He does take the others safety pretty serious, she knows he is also doing his best. That's why he doesn't need to get distracted with minor things, especially if she can take care of.
Amami stayed in the monitor room just as usual, Gonta by the other hand went to sleep earlier that usual. Apparently he spend mostly of his time playing with the bugs that were found around the island. Just by remembering Gonta's enthusiasm full her with relief. Is the best if Gonta focuses in the things he loves rather than the killing game.
Momota and Chabashira usually helps her with her daily tasks, so she could finish faster and relax. And so, that's what happened. They finish a lot earlier than expected, leaving them with nothing else to do. With no pianos, dojos, or a night sky to stare at, they decided to look around, looking for some distraction. While doing so, they found a room full of items. Ones were useful, others were broken. In the end, Momota found a dusty ukulele under some sheets. He thought that they could do something with it so they bring the instrument to de beach, the place where they were currently at.
"Er, you have a point. I guess" She shrugged, rolling her eyes. "But," Rasing her finger she declared "Then the best one would be Ibuki-san" Momota twisted his lips, struggling to reply, not wanting to be silenced without having anything to say. Chabashira gasped.
"Oh, that's right!" She clapped her hands "If Tenko's memory is correct, in the files said that Ibuki-san was the Ultimate Musician!" She exclaimed.
Momota, still lost, tried to follow the conversation. He has been awake for now just two weeks and a half. He hasn't have the chance to look at all the archives and files that were found in the monitor room. Even though Amami doesn't mind of him giving a look at it, he still haven't got the chance to go. Leaving aside the fact that he usually gets lost when traveling through the island, and just as well while looking for the monitor room.
He had indeed read about the first two games and their participants. If his memory doesn't fail, the person they're referring to should be Ibuki Mioda, one of the female characters from the second game. He frowned.
"Uh well. I mean. Yeah, that's true" Momota rolled his eyes, avoiding to look at the two females and just trying to focus into attune the instrument in his hands. "But I'm the one playing so both of you shut up!" Akamatsu laughed again. Chabashira grinned at him.
"Ah, sure" Akamatsu stared at the shaken Momota, who tried to just focus at the instrument he was holding. Akamatsu did notice his effort by doing his best to follow the rhythm of, what she guessed, the melody on his head. With a soft gaze towards him, she spoke again "So? What are you gonna play for us, Momota-kun?"
"Yeah! If you don't have nothing in mind, then lend it to Tenko!"
"Shut up! I do have something in mind geez!" He signed, calming himself. Both girls stayed in silence, looking at him with full interest. "I guess I'll go with hidding in the sand"
"Oh, And why is that?" Akamatsu asked. Momota, still looking at the instrument, shrugged.
"Well, we are in a beach full of sand no matter where you look" Now Tenko was the one to roll their eyes "Also, I think the melody is pretty"
"Then start playing" Chabashira demanded, the other two looked at her. "Tenko doesn't believe that a degenerate male like you could be good at it so Tenko is expecting to be surprised"
"Yes, yes, Give me a moment geez. I'm still trying to attune this thing" He said.
Akamatsu cheer on him while Chabashira patently waited for him to be ready. Momota hold the ukelele into his arms, looking for a comfortable position to be with. A smile of satisfaction appeared on his lips when he was pleased with the position. After a little improvisation to, both girls thought, become familiarize himself with it again, Chabashira notice a soft 'I just hope I still remember this' escape from his mouth.
He started.
Akamatsu stare at the sunset, without worrying of the others to notice her smile. Chabashira by the other hand, was paying attention to his play. Momota tried to relax himself, just following the steps that his mind dictated to him. Tenko put her hand on the strings.
"Hey--!" Momota tried to complain. However, Chabashira talked first. Akamatsu looked at both, confused of the sudden disappearence of the melody.
"Eh, Tenko thinks she has heard it before. But Tenko wonders, doesn't the song have lyrics?" She said. Akamatsu gasped.
"Oh does it?" She asked, hope in her voice. Momota scratched the back of his neck. Letting the ukelele to rest on his lap.
"Well, you're not wrong at all. The song does have lyrics" he admitted, He swear to see Akamatsu's eyes shine "But eh, yeah, I not singing"
"Aw! Why!?" Akamatsu protested.
"Aw come on! For a degenerate male like you, your play was not to bad at all!"
"Yeah! Singing shouldn't be that bad!"
"Still!" Momota complained, trying to find an excuse. "If you know the lyrics then YOU can sing it!" He shouted at Chabashira, pointing at her.
"Ha! Well too bad! I don't fully remmember the lyrics!" Now she shouted at him. Both started shouting arguments at each other. All about why they can't sing. Akamatsu knew that all of that were just plain excuses, she already knew that both we're embarrassed of singing in front of the other two.
She strike an thinking pose. Trying to find a solution to all this unnesesary yelling. For a moment, the picture of Saihara making the same pose flashed on her mind. This made her slightly smile. Then, the brilliant idea showed up.
"If no one will sing then there's no use to it! Let me finish the damn song!" Momota yelled at Chabashira. Akamatsu's insticts make her interfere.
"I'll cut throw your words!" She shouted. Rasing her hand, pointing at the now two confised companions. Then silence. Akamatsu bite her tongue.
"Did Akamatsu-san just did a Saihara-san reference?" Tenko murmur, breaking the silence between them.
"Holy shit dude" Kaito breathed. Akamatsu did her best to hide her grin, then, Momota was the one who explored in laughs. Tenko tried to not crack a smile. She failed.
"Holy shit, hello there miss Ultimate Detective!" Momota said. Trying to breath between laughs. Tenko covered her mouth.
"First, That's my frase! Saihara stoled from me!" Akamatsu tried to argue.
"No, that's wrong!" Momota yelled, obviously making an imitation of both, Saihara and Akamatsu. Tenko covered her mouth with both hands.
"The frase is from that Hinata guy!"
She heard a 'yes sure' coming from Akamatsu.
"Well Momota-san, you just said the frase from that Makoto guy now" Tenko pointed. Kaito gasped.
"Excuse you, I'm imitating my boy Shuichi"
"Anyway" Akamatsu shaked her head, she continued "The second thing is that I think I got an idea" both looked at her, Momota now more relaxed "I suppose Momota-kun knows the full lyrics, while Chabashira-san just a part. So, while Momota-kun is playing, he can sing and we will try to follow along" She suggested. Momota look puzzled.
"Uhm, Tenko thinks it could work"
"I know right!?" Chabashira smiled. Momota finally snapped.
"What--? Hell no! I said I'll not sing"
"Oh shut up and try to be the so called man you had been naming yourself!" Chabashira said.
"Is just--! I am--!" He struggled finding excuses "Ugh, you know what? Fine. But I demand something in return"
"We can stay a little longer if you want" Akamatsu suggested. Momota looked convinced.
"Alright" he said. Taking the ukelele from his lap he settled just like before. He took a moment, Akamatsu guess he was putting all together in his mind before starting. It didn't last long, before she even notice, he was playing again.
With trembling voice, he started singing. The more he sang, the less shaking his voice became. Chabashira sang along with him from the start while Akamatsu tried her best to follow.
In the end, they returned to their dorms at four of the morning.
