EYES

Link x Midna

Oneshot

"I hated you, at first." He mumbled shamefully, glancing down at the ground, only moving his gaze up to meet hers as a hand tenderly touched his cheek.

"You had every right to. I used you." She spoke, a kindness to her voice that he had never really heard in it except for in those last few moments, as she... wait, what had she done again? It was on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't get it off coherently... as if he were blocking it from his mind.

"But with what you'd gone through..." He reached up, and lightly pulled her hand away from his cheek, connecting his hand to hers by linking fingers and gripping tightly. A firm, warm and caring grip, something he never imagined he would share with her.

"You couldn't have known. You were just a confused, innocent, man who was taken advantage of. I'm the one who should be apologizing." She continued the gesture by doing the same with his free hand as the two sat across from each other upon two stone slabs, bloody light mixed with particles of shadow surrounding them.

"... I miss you," He said quietly, his voice choked, tears rising up against his will; he didn't want to cry in front of her, he who he had been so strong in front of so many times... oh, how he would give anything to see those eyes again. "... so much."

"... I miss you to, Link. But what I did was for the best." She responded, and smiled softly.

Those amber eyes, devilish but with a hint of angelic firmness behind that concerned gaze. Without another word, he leaned in and planted a quick kiss on her cheek, and felt the tears roll, cutting through his skin's dirty coating.

"... Now wake up," She spoke, and the world began to contort around him, and he stuck out his now empty hand to try and regain his grip on her, stay in this world with her or if he absolutely had to leave, maybe drag her with him so the two could live together and be happy, forget about the rest of the world...

… He awoke with a startled scream, sitting up and taking in the situation for a moment. His eyes were blurred with the effects of restless sleep, and some other, wet substance – tears.

It all rushed back to him and he began a barking sob, sorrow rushing over him at the realization that the reuniting of girl and boy, love floating in the air around them, was no more than a simple, but oh so torturous dream.

Apologize for the brevity. Felt it best. Just finished TP for the first time today, and I felt the urge to write this almost immediately.

Don't hesitate to review.

If you liked this story, and like Pokemon (as its the only other series I've written in), be sure to check out my other stories.
