Once upon a time there were three wolves. They loved to have bets with each other. So tonight it wasn't surprising that they decided to have some friendly competition.
They all had just finished dinner when wolf number 2's stomach growled. "What are we going to do for dinner?" He asked. Wolf number 3 (whose house they had met up for an early lunch in) walked toward his cabinet. "Don't worry, I happen to have a succulent pig for us to share." He announced. His brothers eyed him suspiciously because wolf number 3 was known for his far fetched lies. Seeing their looks, wolf number 3 quickly added, "See? Right there." He swung open the cabinet to reveal a moldy carcass of what probably used to be the succulent pig wolf number 3 first described. "Well, maybe not anymore..." He said wearing a sheepish grin. "Looks like we'll have to hunt then." Wolf number 1 grumbled unhappily. "But let's add something interesting!" Wolf number 2 exclaimed, bearing an excited smile.
After forming a bet (the first wolf to return with a pig gets to have the first bite which is considered a big honor to the wolf family), they set up their traps.
WOLF NUMBER ONE
Wolf number 1 was grumpy and lazy, so he made a flimsy cage out of straw. After waiting for what seemed like forever, he caught sight of a blur of pink. Looking down, wolf number 1 saw that it was a chubby little pig. Yes! I get to be the first to return with dinner! He goaded. But before he could even pick up the cage, the pig was out, having efficiently chewed through the straw.
WOLF NUMBER TWO
Wolf number 2 was hyper and dumb. Somedays cleverer than others. This was one of those days. When he saw his brother build a fragile cage from straw, wolf number 2 decided to use something a bit stronger. Sticks. Once an hour had passed, a flash of pink appeared in the simple cage. Blinded by his glory, wolf number 2 was oblivious to the fact that his dinner was long gone, having easily broken the bendy twigs.
WOLF NUMBER THREE
Wolf number 3 was smart and an exaggerator. So when he saw the feeble materials his siblings used, he merely chuckled. Using many bricks wolf number 3 made a trap, making his creation the most elaborate. After waiting for precisely 1 hour 36 minutes, the smell of bacon revealed itself to be a decent sized hog. Swiftly picking up the cage, he made his way to his house.
When wolf number 3 got back, he was overwhelmingly happy to find he was the first. So at dinner later he was awarded the privilege of eating the first share of pig.
