Chapter 1: A Brand New Experience

BZZZZZZ! BZZZZZZ! BZZZZZZ!

Peridot awoke to the sound of her alarm going off. She groaned loudly and just smacked the top of her alarm clock. She was starting to fall back asleep until she was attacked by something furry.

"Ahhhh. Pumpkin come give me like five more minutes to sleep." The fat orange cat meowed and stepped onto Peridots back. Peridot groaned once again and sat up. "Okay, Okay I'm up. I regret ever teaching you to wake me up if my alarm doesn't. But I still love you buddy." The cat just layed down on her bed and she walked over to grab some clothes to wear. She rummaged through the clothes that was just stuffed in some drawers and pulled out a black pullover hoodie with this tacky but cool looking alien head on the front. She pulled it over her head and plucked off some of Pumpkins fur. She grabbed a pair of jeans and put them on not caring to look if they had any stains on them. She finally grabbed a bracelet that her mother got her for her birthday awhile ago and slipped it over her wrist. She still wasn't ready for the day. She was still in summer mode and was not ready for school let alone her first day of high school. Peridot wasn't really worried about high school. Her plan was to keep to herself and not worry about anyone else. Of course she would talk to people like her best friend Amethyst. Her annoyance of a crush Pearl. And the cool and collected Garnet.

Peridot trudged into the main room to carry on her day. Her house was made like a house down in Florida even though she was living in Beach City, New Jersey. The living room and kitchen were only separated by a small island counter. She walked into the kitchen and pulled out a small bowl to eat cereal. She went to grab the cereal but noticed a yellow sticky note The note was from her mother telling Peridot about not having anymore cereal. Peridots mother had multiple jobs to work so she had to leave early. This was becoming a regular occurrence for her mother. Peridot trained Pumpkin to wake her up because her mom wasn't there to wake her up in the morning. Peridot would be lying if she said it didn't get on her nerves just a little bit. She wished that her mom would be there in the morning but she knows that her mom having multiple jobs kept her and Peridot alive. She loved her mom with all of her heart no matter what she did. Peridot cursed her father who was never ever around. She had actually never met her father. Peridot's mother tried her best to keep his disappearance from Peri but she failed ever so hardly. Peridot grabbed her black work boots that she had since 7th grade. They weren't so old to her but they were hand-me downs from her mother. She sat on the old ratty couch she had spent so many late nights on and tied her shoes. She flicked on the TV and watched as these cheesy infomercials for things like flextape and the tactical light. She sat and decided the breakfast was for chumps even though her stomach was rumbling. She watched the commercials and waited for the bus. She looked at the clock on their wall and groaned. 6:30. She hated that she got up that early. Her bus didn't even come until 7:20 anyways. She could have slept in but no she just had to be up at this time. She slumped down on her couch and flipped through some channels.

Peridot slowly rolled off the couch when the bus horn woke her up. She grabbed her bag and raced to the bus. The bus driver was a older looking girl almost man looking. The bus driver gave Peridot a nasty look for being a little late and told her if it happens again she won't wait blah blah blah. Peridot couldn't care less in this moment. She hated busses but had no other way for her to get to the school. The crowded seats and forced human interaction made Peridot despise busses. She saw an empty seat and sat down keeping her attention out if the window. 9th grade wasn't what Peridot was worried about. The fact of the matter was Peri didn't talk to many people over the summer especially since she only talked to a hand full of people. Amethyst and her were best friends during the school year but during summer was a different story. Peridot didn't talk to Amethyst at all during the summer. So as much as Peridot hated to admit it but Peridot was worried that Amethyst might not talk to her. During her train of thought the bus pulled up to the school. She absent mindedly got out of her seat and shuffled into the school. She hated this school with all of her might. Beach City High was a school that mixed it's middle and high school. She hated seeing little hooligans running through the halls yelling and screaming. She kept her head down listening to music and found her way to her locker.

" I-I-I I've got a migraine. And my pain will range from up, down, and sideways. Thank God it's Friday cause Fridays will always be better than Sundays. 'Cause Sundays are my suicide days" Peridot sang to herself under her breath. She grabbed her books that she had in her bag and suddenly the locker was slammed in her face.

"Sup dork." Well this answered Peridot's question from earlier. Amethyst stood in front of Peridot with a stupid smile across her face. "Where have you been P-Dot. I was starting to think you don't care about little old me. We need to keep the shorty squad in tact." Peridot hated this nickname for her, Amethyst, and her brother's friend group. She was short but hated when people called her out on it.

Almost instinctively Peridot spoke "No I was just enjoying my peace and quiet for once." Amethyst frowned and then swung an arm around Peridot's neck and walked her towards Amethyst starting class.

"Come on P-Dot I know you missed me." Amethyst said rib jabbing Peridot making her catch her breath. They continued to walk into the classroom and Peridot escaped Amethyst grip but she back into a solid object. Peridot turned and could notice that face from anywhere. It was Jasper an old acquaintance of Peridots. They didn't hate each other they just didn't see eye to eye on a couple of points. She shoved past Peridot and high fived one of her crownies sitting on the other side of the room. Peridot grabbed her books and walked to her actual starting class. Her starting class was relatively small. She had history with Mr. Callison. She sat at her seat and pulled out a blue spiral notebook. She started drawing as Mr. Callison went on and on about History.

Peridot's lunch period couldn't come any faster if she tried. She scanned the lunch room and spotted Amethyst across the room sitting at a rather small round table that could barely fit six. Peridot sat across the table from Amethyst and Pearl who were sitting pretty close together. Peridot pulled out her laptop and set it on the table. She opened up a folder called STAY OUT and pulled up a document. It was the next chapter of her fanfiction that she created for Camp Pining Hearts. She was writing about Percy and Pierre being in the same college dorm room and how a ex of Percy came to stay too. She grabbed a carrot or two from Pearl's salad but Pearl didn't seem to care all that much. She was listening to some more Twenty One Pilots when she stood up and yanked her earbuds with the computer. Luckily Amethyst noticed before Peridot because it would have smashed the laptop. Peridot just shrugged however and looked over her schedule again and noticed a cool set of teachers names. Her chorus teachers name was Mr. Urie. And her woodshop teachers name was Mr. Joseph. She loved these names but the class subjects she didn't know if she would like them too much.

The bus ride home was better than the bus to school because everyone was tired and quiet. At points it got a little too quiet. She arrived home and saw her mother's car in the driveway. Her house wasn't special. It was just like every other house on the block but the atmosphere inside of the house was at times depressing, happy. She walked in and saw her mother sitting at the table doing some paperwork.

"Oh hi honey. Come on in. I got us some chinese food for diner it's sitting on the counter in the kitchen" Peridot's mom pointed to the kitchen and went back to her work. "How was your first day of highschool sweetie."

Peridot shrugged "It was ok. It was pretty boring but I think I will survive. How was work?" Peridot's mom just shrugged back and groaned. Peridot walked into the kitchen and picked up the chinese. Peridot knew she was a creature of habit. She never ate a whole bunch but when she does eat she always eats the same type of foods if not the exact same food brand. Peridot opened up the aluminum and plastic container and grabbed a fork. She picked at the chicken all night and ate most if not all of the pork fried rice. She decided to save the rest of her supper for lunch tomorrow since she knew how bad the schools lunches are. Her mom had gone to bed around 9:30 since she needed to be to work early in the morning again. Peridot trudged over to her bedroom and looked out of her window. She noticed at the neighbors house there was a moving truck in the driveway. She just shrugged one more time and closed her blinds and walked over to the computer. She reached in her drawer and pulled out one of her secret Dr. Pepper from her stash. She surfed the web going on stupid Subreddits, Youtube, Steam, and just looking at memes. She turned off her computer around 3:00 am and she crawled into bed. She set her alarm for 6:00 am and laid her head on her pillow. Peridot drifted to sleep without a worry in the world.

Hey look at this. It's a new story idea i'm working on. This won't tie into Dorm Mates at all. Now you might ask "Well Lapid0t what is Dorm Mates?" Well don't worry your pretty little head I will tell you. Dorm Mates is my Lapidot story that i am currently writing. It is currently going 31k words strong right now. So if you want some just straight Lapidot fluff and angst (more on the angsty side) then go and read that. But this will contain Lapidot in the future. It will also contain Pearlmethyst. This is going to be a angsty high school story for right now since I am in highschool myself. I am going to try and pump this and Dorm Mates chapters out around the same time. I hope you are ready to catch the feels in this story and i hope you are ready to read a long story. I have a long term goal for this story but I don't if that makes since. I want this to be over like 50k words long but I don't know how long it will take to get there. Regardless as the chapter title says this is a brand new experience for me and Peridot. Anyways now that i have rambled on I will let you get back to your lives. Love you all my L-Dot Lovers. (Is that ok to say for this story. Eh I will anyways)
