Hope
'Hope, too, can be given to one only by other human beings' - Elie Wiesel
Hope. That's what Jarvan gave Quinn. A bundle of hope that she clutch tightly to her chest, and keep there, forever. It was a long time ago now, but she could remember it vividly. When the assassin struck at the king, and all the Demacians were pointing fingers at Talon, not stopping to listen to reason and therefore not stopping to listen to her, she felt so alone. Though she had Valor with her, she still felt so utterly alone. Nobody would listen to her point of view. They all dismissed her as just another commoner. By the time she had thought about speaking to Jarvan, the hope in her heart was becoming barren and desolate. And when she was about to speak to him, she could feel fear creeping up in her throat. Despite Valor's presence, terror was infecting her body, like a plague, threatening to paralyse her. The wait was a hell for her. She was left with nothing more to do than twiddle her thumbs for what seemed like hours. But it was all worth it in the end. Almost with a simple smile, Jarvan took the fear that she had and replaced it with a burst of hope. Unlike everyone else in the Demacian military, who at worst blatantly ignored her, and who at best offered her condescending sympathy, she felt like he actually listened to her, and treated her as an actual person with a credible idea, rather than an idiot to be ignored. It was Jarvan who told her to chase after the truth, and she did, managing to prove herself to be right, and when she did it was Jarvan who congratulated her, despite the fact that it was his hope that he passed onto her that allowed her to do this. The hope that he gave her that day, she kept with her no matter what she was doing. When Valor alone was not enough to keep her going, she drew on her reserves of hope that Jarvan had given her to stop herself from breaking down, to stop herself from becoming a wreck. She wondered if the prince even truly knew what he had done for her - if he knew how much he had helped with just a few words, and a few gestures. Part of her wanted to tell him, but she was too selfish for that. She wanted to keep the hope all for herself, because she thought that if she let him know, she could end up losing it. It was a ridiculous idea, but she guessed she used it because she was scared of admitting her feelings. Though she had Valor by her side, constantly by her side, she guessed that he was not enough to help her with this task. She'd tell Jarvan, later. But for now she just wanted to enjoy the hope she gained from his continual presence near her. Keep it to herself, and not share. For now, she would be selfish with the hope. For now.
