Little Miss Muppet

Sindy: Everyone is scared of everyone else. They say they're angry, but they're not. They're scared, and they're so scared that they turn to anger to let it out because they think no one would understand the fear. They think they are alone, and that the others don't share their fear, but they're wrong. We're all different colours and from different places and speak different languages and deal different drugs and have different family members in prison, but we're all the fucking same. That's why we argue, and fight, and kill each other; because we all have flaws and fears.

There was a spider on the wall today. Someone saw it and screamed. It was pretty big. I went up to it, and I blew on it real soft like. It ran. It ran behind the shelves 'cos it was so scared of me just like that person was scared of it.

I was scared in the refugee camp. Ms G said I should decide whether it counted as Juvenile Hall, and I stepped on the line because hell yeah it does. I was scared like people are in Juvy, and people hurt me like they do in Juvy and when I came out everyone treated me different like in Juvy. I was served up shit and then they say 'Don't worry, It's all over now. Now you go to school' and I am happy but then they send me here. To this fuck of a town and this school. It's forcibly integrated but voluntarily segregated. They put us in the same town, the same building, the same room, the same bus, but it makes no difference 'cos we still sit apart from each other. They think putting us all in one school is gonna make us like each other, but it just makes us hate each other even more. If we were in different schools we wouldn't shoot each other or fight each other and then they'd be no reason for all the hate and the fear.

Everything and everyone is scared and that's why everything is so fucked up. This world is fucked up and so's everything in it, and all we can do is try and change the tiny things around us and hope that other people do the same and hope that it eventually makes a difference. And it might. But difference causes war and fear and fuck just like same causes war and fear and fuck. And there's no escape because there's nowhere to run to.

A/N: Disclaimer: I do not own the Freedom Writers or any of the Characters/People involved.

I just watched the film for the first time and loved it. It is amazing. I wrote this after seeing a spider on the wall and then the idea came to me.

Before I put in the bit about the refugee camp (which I put in last) I realised it could apply to any of the characters. That kind of proves the point it's trying to make; we're all the same.

The title is from the Lily Allen Song, Fear.
