"We should go on a double date." Amy said, as she leaned against the console on the TARDIS. The Doctor and Rory were trying to catch a stray noseless dog that had snuck in, as Amy and River waited in case it backtracked to the console room.
"Oh, mother dear, I like that idea," responded River as she joined Amelia at the console, "Where should we go?"
"Someplace fancy?" River and Amy looked at each other, and laughed a second later. Their laughter continued, even intensified, after Rory and The Doctor walked (bounded) in the room with the noseless dog held firm in The Doctor's arms.
The Doctor moved swiftly to the door and deposited the dog safely outside, where he proceeded to have a one-sided conversation with the creature, "No, I can't keep you. Yes, I know it's warm in here. No, I'm sorry Ralphy, the TARDIS doesn't like having animals in here, that's why I got a tin dog instead. No, stay. Good boy." And he shut the door and turned to River and Amy, who were just now recovering from their shared laughter. "So," The Doctor said as he clapped his hands together, "Going to share?"
Rory seemed to be waiting for an explanation as well, and he and The Doctor stared at their respective wives, who burst out laughing again. River responded before Amy could, "Never you mind, dearest." She walked up to him, gave him a kiss on the cheek and met Amy's eyes one last time, both of them wearing smiles.
The Doctor sputtered, and Rory shook his head knowingly, "Maybe it's best not, Doctor."
Amy thought back to her own personal image of a fancy dinner with her bow-tied, floppy haired, big-chinned Raggedy Man, and she knew River imagined something similar.
There they were, all sitting in a fancy alien restaurant, a million miles from home and six thousand years in the future. River, Amy and Rory were drinking the finest of wines (from Earth, no less, circa 7048) and were enjoying a delightful meal of some type of pasta with sauce and some sort of delicious meat chunks.
Amy, Rory and River had chosen the most elegant dresses and suits they could from the TARDIS wardrobe, and while The Doctor had dressed appropriately as well, and was enjoying the same meal, there were two differences; things that Amy and River should have taken into account:
There was chocolate milk on the menu along with children's coloring pages, with crayons.
And The Doctor was thoroughly enjoying these added treasures, right down to blowing bubbles in his chocolate milk between solving the puzzles.
