Standing in the corner,
Watching people around her,
With only a wine glass in her hand
And a page of cuss words in her head,
She was feeling kinda bitter.
She knew she shouldn't feel this way,
That she should be wishing the bride with praise.
But, she knew it would never be her turn.
Everyone was feeling happy,
And she was feeling rather bleak.
The only man she'd every love,
Was with another woman every week.
It was in his genes she thought,
His parents were of the same sort.
But she couldn't help it,
Not when and not like this.
She watched him twirl past,
With the flavor of the week,
Grimacing to herself she tried,
To keep the tears from flowing by.
But even as she watched them so,
Something in her heart was hurting.
She'd loved him ever since she was young,
With all her heart, she knew him well.
He took care of her and
Taught her all she knew.
But good things never seemed to last,
He went to college and then,
He came back a completely different man.
It saddened her to see this change,
But she knew things couldn't be the same,
So she distanced herself from everyone.
The people who knew her well,
Wondered hard and wondered how,
The innocent girl they once knew,
Became like this.
Taking one last look at the two,
She crushed the wineglass in her hand,
And walked out of his life,
For what she thought was forevermore.
She didn't look back or else she'd have seen,
The forlorn look he gave to her,
The one that spoke to her very soul.
But things have passed and things had gone,
But something's still remain the same.
