Chapter I:
Enigma
It was quiet; only the soft gurgling of bubbles filled the silence around him. His body hung suspended in the glass experimental tank, filled to the brim with crystal clear water. Large machinery attached to the bottom of the tank while tubes pierce the rippling surface of the water to join the man floating within it. His spiky, ebony locks of hair swayed in the nearly motionless fluid. Eyes slow opened to reveal two deep grey eyes; little spots of maroon speckled his irises. The tired eyes strained to focus on the structures around him. In and out his vision began to clear until all that faltered his sight was the water he is submerged in. The sluggish movement of his eyes scanned the dark lab. One blotch of white contrasted with the grayish background.
He squinted his eyes in attempt to seen the figure better. It was Professor Hojo in his white lab coat which he was always seen in. Hojo stood, leaning over the desk and deeply examining a computer screen. His fingers raced across the keyboard and the click of the keys could be heard even through the water. The sound halted and Hojo stood up straight. He gave his head a slight cock and turned around to face the tank. A grin crossed the professor's face.
"Well…well. Look what finally woke up," He said to the man in the glass tank.
Anger crossed the contained man's face and he clenched his fist and reared back. It lunged toward the glass at high speed; even with the resistance of the water he was unable to shatter the glass to obtain his freedom. His fist bashed off the glass in another attempt to get out but just like the last time, he wasn't able to break this tool of containment.
"Try all you like, boy. It's impossible to break that glass. It was made to keep monsters like you restrained," Hojo chuckled and pushed his glasses up.
"My name's Osiris and I am not a monster!" His voice was distorted by the water but he was still able to be understood. He continued trying to get the glass to at least splinter but still to no prevail.
A smirk arose on Hojo's lips, "Not yet…but you will be." Osiris wouldn't give up hitting the glass. The professor's eyes narrowed in aggravation. "You may as well give up, because you're going to be here a while." With those words Osiris stopped and tried to decipher whether he was telling the truth or not.
A small laugh came from Hojo as he stepped closer to the tank. "And just to be sure there won't be any more complications in the next course of my plans…," Hojo flipped two of the many switches at the base of the tank. A short flow of sedatives ran through one of the tubes to drain into Osiris's blood stream. His eyes got heavy and darkness ate at his vision. The last thought running through his head was Hojo's voice saying, '…You're going to be here a while.' The last thing Osiris noticed was the water which began to deplete from the bottom of the tank.
Memories flooded into Osiris's mind, remembrances of his past resurfaced and it all began with the new light of a fresh dawn…
