A/N: Here's something off the beaten track...No, I have not jumped ship. I just wanted to see if I could write something like this.
Disclaimer: I do not own iCarly.
She was crushed. Hurt. Confused. Why did Sam kiss him? Did she like him? Did he like her? He didn't kiss her back, so maybe that was a good thing, right?
She thought that Sam hated him. She thought Freddie hated Sam. It's always been like this. Freddie and Sam hate each other, and Freddie loves Carly, while Carly was in love with whatever boy of the week. It's their thing. Why did Sam have to go and mess that up?
After Sam had left, Freddie sat down on the same steps she had been and had his head in his hands. Carly decided that now might be a good time to go and talk with him.
"Freddie?" she asked, going outside.
Freddie looked up to see the brunette girl standing there.
"Are you alright? I saw...what happened." Carly said.
Carly couldn't even call it what it was-a kiss. A kiss by her best friend on her other best friend.
Freddie nodded.
"Yeah...I'm fine. I just...can't believe that Sam would...kiss me like that."
Carly nodded as well.
"It was pretty shocking." she agreed.
Freddie didn't look at her.
"Did you...like it?" she asked.
Freddie shook his head and buried his face in his hands. "I dunno, I..."
He bit his lip in nervousness. "I felt...something. It wasn't a bad feeling...but...I just...I dunno." he muttered.
Carly nodded and pat his arm in comfort.
"It's okay to feel odd. It was certainly unexpected." she said.
Freddie licked his lips, as if tasting the kiss again.
"Yeah, but...it kinda was and it kinda wasn't. I mean, Sam hasn't been as mean to me as she used to be, and...I haven't really hated her for awhile." he said.
Carly nodded.
"When you spend alot of time with people, they kinda grow on you."
"Yeah." Freddie nodded. "I definitely don't hate her anymore."
Carly bit her lip and looked at Freddie.
"But...do you love her?" she asked.
"No." he said immediately. "I mean...I don't know what I feel...that girl is evil for making me all...confused. I just...I don't think it's love...what I feel for her. I know what love feels like. I mean, I've been in love with you since forever. But with Sam, I...I could probably try dating her...but...I mean...she's my friend! She's always been my friend!" Freddie shook his head.
Carly laughed. "Yeah. Remember the time she put the blue-cheese dressing in your shampoo bottle?" Carly asked, laughing.
"Yeah...or the time that she took you to that scary movie and you cried for 2 hours?" Freddie teased, tickling Carly.
Carly pouted. "That's not funny. It was really scary."she muttered.
Freddie grinned.
"Hope Bunnies 2 was scarier that that." Freddie laughed.
Carly pursed her lips in mock-aggrivation. "Not true. Hope Bunny 1 was pretty pathetic. But Hope Bunny 2...ugh. Just...Even worse. When they climbed rainbow mountain...I wanted to kill something." Carly grinned.
"Carly, you couldn't kill anything if you tried." Freddie teased, pulling her in for a hug.
Carly rest her head on Freddie's comforting shoulder. "I know." she sighed.
"So...what are you going to do about Sam? Will you try to date her?" Carly muttered, playing with the aglet of her shoelace.
"I don't know! Gahh! It's all so confusing!" Freddie complained.
Carly smiled and rest her hand on top of his in comfort.
"Well...I'll always be here for you if you need to talk to someone." she smiled.
Freddie smiled and looked into the eyes that he's loved since forever.
"You always have been." he said.
"I always will be." she replied.
