GOOD GOSSIP

When Tony arrived in the bull pen that morning, it was to find Abby perched on Kate's desk and the two women immersed in a conversation.

As he got closer to her desk, Kate looked up and all conversation immediately ceased.

Looking up too, Abby hopped off the desk as Tony approached.

"I'll talk to you later Kate" she told her friend as she stood up.

Tony looked from one to the other.

"Don't stop on my account ladies, I like a good gossip," he told them as he threw his bag on his desk.

All he got in reply was a sheepish look and Tony began to worry.

"It was about me, wasn't it?" he asked, a little anxiously, looking from one woman to the other.

Abby shook her head, "Oh no Tony, no not at all". Pausing, she looked at Kate who shook her head too.

"I don't think I believe you both, what were you talking about? What have I done now?" The panic was starting to set in.

Before anyone could say anything, Tony received a slap to the back of his head, causing him to duck involuntarily.

"Nothing DiNozzo. Now get to work." Gibbs told him as he headed for his desk.

"Ouch boss, what was that for? They started it. They were talking about me, I know they were and I was just trying to find out what they were saying." Tony tried to explain.

"Work DiNozzo" Gibbs told him again. He turned to Kate. "Go with Tony and see what's keeping McGee" he instructed her.

He watched them head to the lift, he could hear Tony asking Kate to tell him what they were talking about and she was still refusing, telling him he was just paranoid.

When they had left, he turned to see Abby watching him.

"You two shouldn't mess with him like that. You know he's gunna worry about it all day now don't you. I won't get any work out of him" he told her gruffly, but the twitch at the corners of his mouth gave away his amusement.

Abby walked over to him and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. She chuckled as she walked away.

"I know Gibbs, but it's just so much fun to mess with his head," she called to him over her shoulder as she entered the lift laughing.
