Once upon a time, there was a little angel in heaven who couldn't stop crying. He cried when he was happy, he cried when he was sad, he cried when he was angry, he cried no matter what he was feeling. His name was Yugi. All the other angels made fun of him, as they went to angel school and became happy babies. The teachers were concerned and they told him he had to stop crying or he'd never become a happy baby and he would just be a burden with all his crying. This made poor little Yugi very sad, for he just couldn't stay his tears.
One day, as Yugi sat on a cloud far, far away from all the other angels, he was visited by a strange angel he had never seen before. Yugi was surprised, because no one ever wanted to see him.
"Why are you crying?" The voice behind him was unfamiliar to Yugi and he hunched back in on himself.
"I don't know why," he said sadly. "I just can't stop. All the other angels make fun of me and say I'll never be a happy baby."
"It's not that bad," The strange angel said softly. "All the other angels are afraid of me. I mean, look at me! I'm not like any of the others!" Yugi turned and looked. And indeed, this angel was like no other angel he had ever seen. His wings were jet black and his eyes were bright red. "They call me Yami," the angel said quietly. "Let me sit with you for a while."
Yugi smiled and Yami sat with him. They talked and Yugi smiled and laughed with another angel for the first time. After that, it was uncommon to see them apart. They had become fast friends.
One beautiful dark night, the two of them were sitting on a cloud when Yami took a dark wing and wiped Yugi's face with it.
"What are you doing?" Yugi asked, bewildered. Yami smiled.
"I'm letting you cry into my wing," he explained. "Wipe away your tears on them so you can be a happy angel and not a weepy one." And so, every day they were together, Yugi wiping his tears on Yami's wings and every night, Yugi and Yami would go to a cloud and the two of them would wring out Yami's wet wings. And those drops of salty tears fell into the heavens and became a million glittering little stars.
A/N: This is based off a short manga story that's in one of my collections, so you might recognize the plot. The idea of the dark winged angel just fits so perfectly with my idea of Yami :D I'm not religious at all, but I've been studying parables and fables and wanted to write one. I'm sorry that it's really short, but whatever…
