Of Little Cubs and Ears

I-Chaya was beginning to wonder why he put up with this.

Okay sure the cub was cute, and he loved him.

He was after all Sarek's newest and youngest cub.

But really this was just unacceptable!

What in the whole entire Vulcan world (Why did the planet have be named after the Vulcans away? What about all the other creatures on here?) said that he had sit here and let his poor ears be pulled on by Sarek youngest cub?

He, I-Chaya the sehlat of Ambassador Sarek, being used as a play thing, for a cub! (Never mind that said cub is Sarek's cub, and that Sybok did the same thing at just a few months old. )

And now he was chewing on them!

With a low growl of annoyance, he pulled away from Spock who in turned blinked.

The little one looked up at him with big wide eyes, as if he couldn't believe I-Chaya had done that.

Little hands reached up to grasp the ears once more, but I-Chaya huffed, and began to walk away.

Perhaps he could find the other cub Sybok, and see if he would play with little Spock so that he's ears did not suffer. He need his ears!

But as he began to walk away he heard a little sniff.

Look back over his shoulder, I-Chaya saw that Spock's still wide eyes beginning were beginning to fill with tears, his hands still reaching out as if to grab I-Chaya ears.

Now I-Chaya could do one of two things.

He could ignore the cub, and end up feeling like he was unworthy of even being Sarek companion for making his cub cry, the worsted sehlat companion in history even. (For what companion would he be if he just turned heartlessly away from Spock when he was Sarek's son? When he just wanted to play?)

Or he could turn around and let Spock chew on his ears. Not like he had any teeth yet anyway, so at the most his ears would just get wet.

No harm done.

At least, that what I-Chaya told himself as he turn around and sat back down next to Spock.

Spock just giggled.
