I know that there's probably a hundred of these today, but it's been a while since I posted and I needed to post something. So here it is - the birthday fic.
The reason I'm not posting anything is that I'm working on a couple of multi-chapter stories that are taking up a lot of time. However, as soon as those are finished, they will be posted and I will be back on the face of the Earth, so to speak.
Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians. All lefts go to their respective owners.

"I know it's not the best party," Sally said, rubbing Percy's shoulder. "But it's all we can afford right now."
"It's great, mom," Percy replied. "Honestly."
It didn't feel great. None of Percy's old classmates had kept in touch, so it was just her and Percy for the night, and it wasn't like they could afford much. Sally wished she could give him more, but that just wasn't possible.
But she had managed to gather enough money for a movie, and just being away from Gabe was a relief in itself.
Before Sally could respond, the theater darkened and their conversation was cut off.
Besides, Percy was enjoying it, and it was all for him anyways...

"Cake?" Percy asked, walking into the kitchen with a half-asleep look on his face.
"Of course," Sally replied. "It's your birthday after all."
There were other things to be celebrated, of course. The fact that they were both alive after the events of the summer was enough to make Sally happy. And the fact that
they didn't have to run away for this birthday...
Percy smiled, still half-asleep, but Sally could tell he was just as glad to be here as she was.

"It's a shame Annabeth couldn't come," Sally hinted, giving Percy a look only moms can make.
"I told you," Percy replied. "She's already back in Virginia."
"I know, I know," Sally admitted. "But the two of you are just so close it's a shame..."
"Mom, you do realize you've said that already, right?"

Paul was totally confused by the fire escape, Sally could tell, but he was too polite to say anything about it this time.
There wasn't much of a party left for Nico, but Percy gave him some cake and they played a card game. As disheveled as Nico looked, Sally was happy to take him in.
Now, if he had just been on time...

Percy's alive.
The blue flag on the Empire State Building was one of the most beautiful sights Sally had ever seen. She had been so worried, and now that that it was over...
Percy's alive.
17.
"It's your anniversary, Perce," Sally said. "Don't feel bad about spending it with Annabeth."
"But I've missed you so much," Percy argued.
"And I you," Sally admitted. "If I had my way, I'd lock you up here and never let you leave. But it's your anniversary, and that matters a lot to girls, so go spend it with Annabeth."
