Miku sat by Kaito's bedside as the beeps of his machine were slower than they'd ever been. She gripped his hand, tears slipping down her wrinkled face. She was all Kaito had after Gakupo died.

Suddenly, Kaito took in a weak breath and opened his deep, midnight-blue eyes.

"Miku..." He said, his voice low.

"I'm here." She said softly. Kaito's glassy eyes looked in Miku's direction.

"I'm going to die soon...I can feel it." He said, looking back up at the ceiling. Miku choked back a sob at those words, not wanting to hear such things.

"I...I always imagined myself dying in Gakupo's arms..." Kaito whispered, sounding far away. Miku felt so sorry for Kaito.

"I will be right here by your side until you do." Miku said kindly, placing a hand on his forehead and smiling. Kaito slowly turned his head, looked into her sad eyes and smiled back.

"I..." Kaito weakly said. Tears then started to form in his eyes and he weakly gripped onto Miku's hand.

"Shhh..." Miku hushed, wiping the tears running down his face.

"I'm scared, Miku..." Kaito said, his voice raspy. "Will I see Gakupo again?" Miku's smile became bigger.

"I'm sure you will." She said. Kaito then slowly closed his eyes.

"I'd give anything to see his face again..." He whispered.

As every minute passed, Kaito's voice became lower and the beeps on the machine became slower.

Kaito turned his head away from Miku and gasped.

"What is it, Kaito?" Miku asked quietly, searching for what Kaito could be looking at.

"Gakupo..." Kaito breathed. "He's standing right there...looking as beautiful as he always did..." Tears fell down his face as he smiled.

Through Kaito's hazy state of near death, Gakupo was standing there, shrouded in white light, wings protruding from his back and a bright smile on his face. He bent down and kissed Kaito on his forehead. Kaito closed his eyes and savoured the moment.

"I love you, Gakupo..." He whispered. Miku just watched and smiled at how happy Kaito looked. It was the happiest he'd looked in years.

"Come with me, Kaito." Gakupo said, his voice echoing. He held out his hand. Kaito suddenly felt energy coarse through him and the weight lift off his chest as he got up out of the bed and grabbed Gakupo's hand gently.

"I love you too, Kaito." Gakupo said. Kaito leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. When he saw Gakupo blush he smiled and laughed. They then walked off together into a blinding white light.

Miku sobbed when Kaito fell limp and the heart monitor stopped, just a continuous beep resounding throughout the room.
