The Doctor and Rose hung on as the Daleks and Cybermen went rushing past them, pulled screaming into the Void. It took every last ounce of strength to maintain their grip, and Rose very nearly slipped loose, but managed to regain her hold.

The last Dalek went by, and the Rift began to close. They could feel its pull lessening.

And then, just when they both were thinking It's over! We did it! ...

Well, that would be right about when the TARDIS went sailing by.

They both watched helplessly as it disappeared into the Void.

The Doctor stood there, gob-smacked, as the horrid realisation that since the TARDIS had been through the Void, and was therefore steeped in Void Stuff, he should have done something to secure it before opening the Rift.

He couldn't believe that he had overlooked something that important.

Or that obvious.

Or that he was now stranded.

On Earth.

In 2006.

Rose walked over and stood next to him, staring wide-eyed at the space where the Rift had closed, and summed up both their feelings.

"Oh, bollocks..."
