Thaluke :3

Slightly based on "The One That Got Away" by Katy Perry, because that song practically screams Thaluke. Ok, this is one of those One-Shots I mentioned to you guys in my story "Black Roses", it's been in my unpublished folder along with 22 other random unfinished things. I have two other one-shots like this that I just need to get an ending typed and they will be finished.

Sorry for the shortness.

Thalia couldn't believe it. He poisoned her tree. He was so different, a mere shadow of what he used to be. Annabeth had told her everything, how he had joined Kronos and betrayed both of them. He hurt her friend, Percy (who Thalia knew she was totally in love with). Luke was a traitor, he promised her family, love, and to for once stop running from everything. That traitor, that unforgivable person, had now ruined it for both of them.

She really thought he was the one, she had always knew in her heart that someday she and Luke would be together. Thalia felt like an Aphrodite child, planning her love life, swooning over Luke. It was simply preposterous! To think he still loved her! He only loved himself now…

Thalia punched her pillow and turned over. It was those kind of thoughts that kept her from sleeping at night. She was afraid, so very afraid, that he would show up in her dreams, begging for forgiveness and convincing her to join him. Thalia finally turned over one more time and dozed off.

She was right. He was there, in her dream, with his scare marring his face. Her pale fingers reached out and traced it down the path it made on his face.

"Luke…" Her voice was soft and barely heard, but still, she had said it.

"Thalia, I am so sorry! I really didn't want to poison you, but now you're here, you're back!"

He reached for her but she turned away. She couldn't look into those eyes, those crystalline blue eyes that looked into her heart.

"You can join Kronos with me, we can have the future we always wanted, just join me!"

Thalia turned back; his eyes were pleading her to say that one word. She couldn't, she wouldn't, and she didn't.

"No."

His face fell, his heart broke, and Thalia felt horrible.

"But Thalia, I love you!"

There it was, those three words she had longed to hear after all these years. He loved her, wasn't her heart supposed to star swelling now, and wasn't she supposed to say it back? She tried, but she couldn't, she wouldn't, and she didn't.

"I'm sorry Luke, but you're not the guy I used to know. Sure, the Gods have never been good to us, but at least they didn't go around killing everyone and destroying innocent people."

Now he was really broken, Thalia could see it on his face.

"Luke, I loved you once. I loved the Luke who was my friend, who did whatever it took to make sure his friends were safe. Who kept everyone else out of danger? Tell me Luke, are you that person now? I don't think you are. I'm sorry Luke, but I don't love you anymore. That whole relationship we had, it's over. We never really loved each other. Maybe in another life."

With that Thalia turned, walking into the mist that surrounded him.

Walking away she knew what she had done, she remembered the quote from something her mother (in one of her drunken rages) said Zeus told her.

If you love someone enough, you are willing to let him go.

And there, in that dream, which she would never tell a soul, she cut her last string that tied her to Luke, because in her heart she knew he would always be the one who got away.

Thalia remembered that, for the rest of her life, and she knew that one day, maybe he would understand…
