Raindrops On Roses
There was a drenched red head stood outside his front door. He could see her there, but he wasn't going to let her in, not just yet. He watched out of his bedroom window as she stamped her feet and rubbed her hands. Rain water had saturated her hair and was now running off the ends and down her back like a tap that's left on all day.
He knew that he should let her in; after all, it had been him who had invited her. Him who wanted her. Him who lusted for her.
He knew that if he didn't let her in then she would leave, and when his wife returned he would go unsatisfied for another few months on end.
His eyes were fixed on the girl below and he felt unable to tear himself away. He could barely make out her face from this distance but it mattered not because he knew it by heart anyway. Every freckle and every wrinkle. Even the exact shade her eyes turned when the sun reflected off them in a certain way. He knew her better than he knew his wife.
Suddenly the spell was broken and he rushed down the stairs of the manor like he did when he was a child on Christmas day. As he reached the door he paused. He needed her. He wanted her so badly. But he also needed his wife and his son.
They weren't here right now. Now he could do whatever he pleased.
He opened the door and was greeted by a hard slap across the face by a very disgruntled Ginny Weasley.
"Draco Malfoy!" she yelled. "Even my Christmas stockings are soaked!"
"Merry Christmas to you, too," he said calmly, and led her inside.
The End
AN: This was for the DG forum christmas fic challenge, . . . And the Stockings Were Hung: The DG Forum's Christmas Challenge
Your assignment: to tackle a non-typical facet of the holidays. That means the common sights (like mistletoe, Weasley sweaters, and candy canes) that feature strongly in Christmas fics are to be avoided - the farther from "same-old" you can get it, the better. In short, be as creative as your little muse will allow while still writing about"the holidays."
That said, you must need to include one common Christmas element: all stories must mention or feature "Christmas stockings." (Not stalkings . . . I mean, you can go there if you want . . .)
Whether they're hung by the chimney with care or used for other exciting/scandalous/nefarious/ridiculous purposes, their use is up to you.
