A Perfect Acquaintance

"I do not believe we've met before."

"No, I do not believe we have."

He extends his hand.

She offers hers as well.

They start off as aquaintances, almost perfect strangers.

"Sasuke."

"Sakura."

He smirks.

She smiles.

And somewhere along this brief introduction, she believes she has fallen for him.

"Would you like to dance?"

"I would like that very much."

He leads.

She follows.

And she believes he is absolutely perfect.

"I do not believe I quite understand you."

"It is a simple question, really, what is your main goal in life?"

He raises an eyebrow.

She simply smiles.

They have had each others acquaintance for a while now.

"Would you like to go for a walk in the park?"

"I would love to."

He offers his harm.

She takes it, gladly.

They are believed to be courting, they are no longer acquaintances.

"I do believe you look rather pretty today, Sakura."

"Is that to mean that I do not look pretty everyday, Sasuke?"

He looks away.

She blushes.

She believes that he might be the one; they have gotten quite inseperable now.

"I do love you, you know."

"I love you too."

He is withholding something.

She is giving him everything.

She thinks nothing of it when he dances with her best friend, she is quite blind, you see.

"Sakura!"

"Sasuke!"

He is shocked to see her.

She is happy to see him.

She does not notice when he begins to leave her behind and sway to her best friend.

"I do not believe we should see each other anymore."

"Wait, Sasuke, I do not understand, what do you mean?"

He turns away.

She grabs his coat sleeve.

They were close now, intimate; he could just not abandon her!

"You comprehend quite well, Sakura, you are a bright girl."

"Why?"

He breaks free of her grip.

She allows the tear droplets to run down her face.

She stands there in awe, and can honestly say she never saw this betrayal coming.

"Just make this easier on the both of us."

"How am I supposed to do that?"

He has not begun walking away yet.

She still holds her arm outstreatched towards him.

She realizes that she was just another conquest to him.

"We were never meant to be, Sakura, why push fate?"

"But, I love you."

He begins to step away from her.

She finally lets her hand fall.

She tries to work herself up to indignation, but cannot quite accomplish the feat.

"A foolish mistake on your part, my dear."

"Yes, a foolish mistake."

He holds a hand up in farewell and continues on his merry way.

She watches in awe as she wipes tear drops from her cheek.

She realizes that they were perfect when they were just acquaintances.
