I deleted the last version of this to clean it up after I realized I've been spelling Kailah's name wrong. OOPS.
The hooded girl urged her horse on, the slave traders hot on her heels. The Egyptian sands buffeting her, making her vision blurry. Her grey-blue eyes watered, clinging to the stallion desperately.
Her horse suddenly jumped a rock formation, it's rider tumbling off, dashing her into the hot dune below, her vision fading to black.
...
She awoke to find her hands chained together, pulled behind her back so she couldn't escape, listening to the whispering voices around her. She felt the stares of the other occupants as they shifted,a blonde boy walking into the dim light.
He reached out to pull back her hood.
She snarled, snapping at his hand.
He backed up, holding his hands up in defense. She was to be treated with caution, as she was like a cornered wild animal, lashing out at any threatening moves.
"Where am I?" She shouted in her native tongue, eyes filled with an untamed fury.
Naturally, he didn't understand.
She yelled the question several more times, becoming frustrated.
She screamed. "Where am I!"
Angry tears flooded her eyes, she fell onto her side, crying, yelling and pleading to go home.
The boy sighed, moving close to the frantic girl. She flinched as she snarled again. He reached over, touching her left shoulder.
She tensed.
"Easy." He soothed.
He saw her eyes, even under her cloak, her eyes were a grey-blue, scared but wild.
He locked eyes with her, gently reaching his hand under the girl, gently pulling her to an upright position.
He stood for a moment, walking away for a few minutes, before returning with some fruit. He noticed she looked hungry.
He peeled a tangerine, pulling the segments apart and holding one up to her mouth, or rather, where he thought it was.
She giggled as he bumped the fruit into her nose, lifting herself up slightly so she could grab the segment between her teeth.
He smiled slightly.
~It was the start of a wonderful friendship.
