Little Sister: Now Later and Forever

When the Son is only 9 yrs old His younger sister tries to do something that He did and doesn't meet with sucess. He teaches her to do it and makes a promise to her that he will always love her now later and forever. First in Family and Friends series

He walked into His house one day when He was just nine years old. He saw his younger sister shivering with a towel wrapped around her.

"Oh for goodness sake," He said rushing over to His 6 year old sister, "Adamina what happened to you"

He got a blanket and wrapped it around her.

"I'm stupid," she told Him.

"Don't say such a thing about yourself," He told her, "You're my little sister and you are not stupid"

"I'm not as good as you," she said, "I tried to run across the lake like you did the other day and I couldn't. I fell in."

He gently lifted his sister's chin and cajoled her to look at Him.

"Adamina you are not worse then me. You are different then I am but that doesn't mean that you're worse then me. I couldn't do the drawings you do to save my life. You're my little sister and my best friend"

"For now," she said, "But what about later"

"You will always be my little sister and my best friend," He told her, "Now later and forever. I'll show you to do it tomorrow."

She brightened up.

"You will," she asked.

"Yes," He said, "I will"

...

((The next day))

"No Adamina don't focus on your feet. Look up to the sky. Look to the Heavenly Father and trust Him to keep you upright. Take a step slowly," He said, "I'm holding your hand so I will catch you if you fall"

Adamina did as He instructed her to do. She took a step and slowly another but she got frightened. She started to fall. He reached out His hand and kept her upright.

"Trust the Father," He whispered, "and take another step."

Slowly she took another step, and then another. Trusting the Father to keep her uplifted she made it all the way across the lake and back.

"You did GREAT," He told her hugging her.

"I couldn't have done it without you," she said, "and by the way don't forget what you said about now later and forever."

Years later the words He spoke would not be forgotten. It never would be forgetten because it was etched in His heart forever. Love is etched in your heart. For everyone else He said the typical words but when He looked at His younger sister He said the following words.

"Like I told you once," He said, "I love you now. I love you later. I love you forever"
