It was a dark, stormy day at Degrassi Community School. Lights were flickering on and off as a large restless noise released hundreds of Teens into the narrow hallways. It was a Friday, and obviously the students wanted to leave. Maya Matlin strolled through the rows of blue, yellow, and white lockers, giggling at the jokes told by her best friends, Zig Novak, Tori Santamaria and Tristan Milligan. The Four kids laughed as they made their way to the gym where Maya would eventually have to be in a group with her enemy, Campbell Saunders. Cam and Maya had been enemies since the beginning of the year, when he repeatedly made fun of her and eventually she beat the living shit out of him. His friends, Mike Dallas, Luke Baker, and his current girlfriend, Samantha Connor, teased him for the next few months. Maya, Zig, Tristan and Tori skipped, as if in a flowery meadow, to their gender organized locker rooms to dress into their baggy, yellow and blue uniforms that made them look like a bunch of sweaty prison mates. As they walked into the gym from the locker rooms, Maya immediately caught site of Cam and his girlfriend in the corner of the room. She turned away before he saw her, or so she thought. Zig and Tori were in the same group and Tristan was in a different group. By groups, they were meant to rotate around the room and do several short activities that all seemed very pointless to the students. Maya walked over to Cam, Samantha, and 3 others before sliding down the wall, crossing her arms, and sitting with a huff. She hated this group, because she was the outcast. The other 5 kids were popular jocks who were ignorant to everyone else, and she was the Musician with glasses who has never had a boyfriend. She just wanted to be with at least one friend but she was completely alone. That is unless she made friends, but that was never going to happen. All she could think about right now was after school, when she would meet up with Zig, Tori, and Tristan at The Dot. After a long 5 minutes, the coaches whistled for the rotations to start. Zig looked over to Maya, feeling guilt wash over him, and not for the reasons you are thinking. Zig and Tori had started dating and they hadn't told Maya yet, but Tori wanted it to be secret even though half of the school already knew, including Campbell Saunders. Zig could already tell Cam was going to spill. He turned away, trying to wipe his mind from the topic before she noticed his staring. Maya grabbed a basketball, shooting it toward the hoop. She was always good at basketball, unless someone was watching. She missed, earning a hiss of laughter from the athletes that formed her group. Maya rolled her eyes before standing against the wall next to the other players. "pst," Cam whispered to the blonde, "pssst." She exhaled before turning to the jock. "What,"
she asked with anger flowing through her. He noticed she was practically staring into his soul. He grinned before replying, "How many times am i going to catch you staring at me, Matlin?" She rolled her eyes once more, before turning away. "Wait, i was going to tell you some very important information," he said emphasizing everything. "Ugh," she retorted, facing him yet again, "What?" He smirked before announcing to her everything about Tori and Zig's relationship. Maya's mouth dropped before she realized he may be lying. "Fine, don't believe me," he started, "but you might want to after you see what they are doing at this very moment." Maya looked over to her friends to see them secretly holding hands. Maya became very flustered before rushing, and almost tripping in the process, to shoot a basketball. Cam laughed at her insecurity, before walking over to his friends who sat out when the teachers weren't paying attention. Maya was confused. Her friends since freshman year were dating behind her back.
