An Answered Question

Duo watched as Heero typed at his computer once more. Heero worked for a few more minutes and shut down the computer. Then he stood up, stretched, and walked out of the bedroom, flicking off the light as he went.

Duo sighed and stared after him for a moment, and walked out the open door. He went downstairs and found Heero in the living room on the couch. To Duo's surprise, the introverted pilot was watching TV. Heero. Watching TV. And it wasn't the news on the latest colony improvements. Actually, he was flipping through the channels. As Duo watched, Heero sighed and shut the television off. He followed Heero into the kitchen. He watched as the Perfect Soldier raided the refrigerator, and was obviously not satisfied. Finally Heero started pacing, something he never used to do.

"Heero…what's wrong?" asked Duo quietly. There was no answer.

Heero stopped pacing and went back upstairs. Duo stayed in the kitchen for a few moments, thinking. Finally, he started up the stairs after Heero. As he climbed, thoughts ran through his head.

"Why am I here?...Because I have to find the answer to my question…that's the only reason I didn't leave a long time ago…" Duo sighed once more. "Heero…"

Duo stepped into the bedroom, where Heero was sleeping in the king-sized bed. The dark-haired soldier was turned away from the braided pilot. Duo walked slowly around the bed to the other side. He knelt down by the bed and rested his head on his arms, inches away from the sleeping Heero's. Suddenly Duo gasped.

"Heero!" Duo said softly. "What are you doing…crying in your sleep?!" He began to fiddle with the end of his braid, something he only did when he was anxious or upset. Heero, the emotionless Perfect Solder, was crying. Duo closed his eyes, and thought worried thoughts.

The next morning, Heero dressed in something less casual than his usual shorts and tank. Duo watched him all morning. A little later, he left with Heero and they walked to the bus stop, not speaking. They sat silently on the provided bench, and got on the bus when it came. Duo knew exactly where they were going.

They got off at the stop by the cemetery. Heero walked through the gates and up the drive. Duo followed a little bit behind, letting Heero think. They made their way across the cemetery to a marble tombstone. Duo recognized it; he and Heero had been here on a few occasions. He stood a few feet behind as Heero knelt and bowed his head. This time, he began to speak. Duo listened; Heero never did this before.

"It hasn't been long since you left us…left me. It felt like a lifetime. I just wish I could have told you how I felt before you went away…I loved you, and I still do."

Duo was in shock.

"I love you so much…Duo."

Shinigami got his wings.

AN: I hope this wasn't too easy to figure out. It was hard to put the warning without spoiling anything!! Well, I like surprise endings; it makes a story easy to read because you want to know what happens. And you want to know if you're right. So I hope I made it interesting. I'm not a writer, I draw. But writing is a secondary hobby. So yeah. I can say that I have halfway decent spelling and grammar, so that helps too. Ahem. I'm done.

Duo: I'm not! Why am I always the dead one in your fics?!

Kelly: I don't know. Maybe I love Heero better…

Heero: Hn.

Duo: ;__;

Kelly: Just kidding! Duo will always be my favorite ^__^

Heero: Hn.

Kelly: No need to be so sad, Heero…( -_-; )
