A/N: I owe all of these characters and ideas to one great writer, J.R.R Tolkien. He has inspired me to write this, along with The Departure of Galadriel. Therefore, I dedicate this poem to him. Thank you J.R.R. Tolkien.

Gandalf the White

Gandalf the Grey has left the Bay,

Has gone into the Sea.

At a far away look, he may look like a Took,

But is really a wizard in gray.

Riding fast, not fearing the past,

The old man comes and goes.

He deals with all things, not excluding the rings,

For He is Gandalf the Grey.

He dismounts his stead, the ground he reads

The air he looks upon.

He smells the breeze, searching for keys,

For He is Gandalf the Grey.

He is the light, not fearing the night,

Towards Orthanc he must go.

Ending his ride, awaiting the tide.

Here comes Saruman the White!

Two rocks upon a weathering hill,

He fears no one but himself.

Casting away his weathered cloak,

He takes his staff in hand.

Thunder and rain, no matter to pain.

He defeats the evil one.

His eyes are worn, his hat is torn.

Gandalf emerges White.

In his garments of white, he rides through the night

Coming at last to rest

He never sleeps, he always keeps

The secrets of his past.

Light against Dark, strong as bark,

He comes to a final task.

Defeat all foes, despite his woes.

Gandalf battles his last.

Once again, for the fate of men,

He defeats remaining evil.

Now Middle-Earth, with all its girth

Is safe from harm again.

Gandalf the White defeated the Night

And so our tale is done.

He leaves the shore, with all his lore

Leaving a Rider of White.

A great master, and man, he never ran.

From evils, he overcame.

Farewell to Gandalf dressed in White.

And so he passed out of site…
