Strange tales
Chapter 1
The World as we know it, is ours. We dominate it, we control its resources. Aside from mother nature, we control up to 99% of its offerings. But what if we weren't alone in the world? What if some inescapably vast monstrosity could control us on a whim? What if that was just a small version of it?
Are we truly alone in the world? That is a burning question. One that I am loath to find an answer to.
The seas hide more than fish, the vast arrays of space and its galaxies harbor more than stars. In the realm of fiction, there are worse things than death, far worse.
Chapter 1
Take for instance, our first Victim, Charles Dewitt, an Entrepreneur of sorts, selling various Odds and ends to people for decent sums of money. TV's, stereo's and even a few transistor radios at reasonable discounts. This being the 1950's, the world had yet to understand space as it is now seen: monstrous and inhuman, yet beautiful and terrifying in its majesty.
"I really must get home" said Charles, as sweat dropped down his cheek. It had been 12 hours and, although he had made a decent amount of cash, he was still stuck with one extra radio. He stopped a passing Gentleman. "excuse me sir" he said, as the man turned to meet his gaze. "could I interest you in a brand new, never been touched, transistor radio, 5 bucks" he said, his gleaming eyes hiding a tiredness that was quickly overtaking him. The man refused and Charles tossed the radio in the garbage.
The Radio began to beep and rattle, picking up a strange signal from somewhere. Charles followed the signal and found an amorphous blob on the ground, thick with tentacles and a fleshy sac that made up its body. Its ship was massive. Charles did not know whether to run or investigate further.
The choice was rendered moot when the thing grabbed and assimilated him in a matter of seconds. Not long after, the U.S army arrived to destroy the creature. As it had no heart and, being impervious to damage of any kind, and thus was unmoved nor swayed by the bullets. It slowly advanced on the panicking soldiers who hurriedly reloaded and fired before retreating. Tanks were bought in to quash the menacing alien but they were of little help. Artillery, planes, bombers and even nukes were used. Eventually, it was caught after someone managed to trap it using a bulldozer. Its 12MPH rampage was stopped at 3:00 on a Wednesday. Its Gelatinous skin yielded a surprisingly good haul of jelly, allowing delighted men and women to campaign for it to be used as a food additive. The trapped Jelly monster was squeezed, juiced, pruned and squished dry until its 41-ton carcass was tossed in a 3 mile-wide- ditch and buried.
Chapter 2
Across the immense gulf of space, the Jelly filled hordes advanced on earth, intent on assimilating it. they were greeted with sharpened Knives, chainsaws and Turkey basters, syringes and every utensil under the sun that could drain something. The invasion never came to be as the humans ate themselves to sickness. The remaining Jellyians fled earth and never came back.
