~(Swapfell) bitter sweet~
"Honestly Papyrus, calm the hell down." Hapstablook sighed, watching Papyrus as he cowered behind the couch.
"O-Oh, sorry... I-I thought Y-You- ah... Never mind.." he stuttered, standing back up. Hapstablook went over and reentered the metal body they usually used. They had quickly jumped out when Papyrus had dove behind the couch at the sound of such loud knocking.
"It's- " he looks around to make sure no one is around, before he softens a bit "it's alright, Darling, I know you're somewhat jumpy.. I should be more careful around you"
Papyrus smiles, and walks over, less nervous. He shyly glances up at him.
"I- T-Thank you.. sorry, I-I should toughen u-up a B-Bit.." he mumbled, causing Hapstablook, now Mettaton, to scowl.
"No, Darling, your perfectly fine as you are. You shouldn't need to change for anyone! Even this awful place and these horrible people..." He ranted, pulling the Skeleton close. "You're perfect the way you are! Jumpy nature and skittish behavior included."
Papyrus smiled up at him, feeling a warm feeling overtake him as he continued ranting on about the population of the Underground.
"You... Y-You really l-like me... Just like I-I a-am?"he asked meekly, watching as Mettaton paused in his rant to look down at him.
"Of course I do, Darling. Why do you think I stick around? I-" Mettaton choked on his own words, glancing around again.
He didn't want anyone to think he was weak. That was a death sentence here, you had to watch what you said. He cringed at the thought of Sans walking in during this, but when he looked down and saw Papyrus' hopeful look, he knew he had to voice his thoughts.
"I- ... I love you..." He mumbled, making sure only Papyrus could hear. He knew the shorter had heard him, when he grinned and clung to him in a hug.
"I-I love you too, Metta."
"Alright, Alright, enough affection for now."
"Heh, right, s-sorry I-I'll j-just stop..."
"Ugh, fine come here."
