The Promise
Once upon a time, there was a lovely girl named Colette. She was the most beautiful girl in all the land. One day, when she was six, she met a boy named Lloyd. He was a handsome little one with loving eyes. The two quickly became friends, then a couple-to-be a few months after they met. Their love was so strong that they were inseparable. Alas, Colette's parents died in a terrible accident, and she had to move away from Lloyd when she was eight.
"Please, promise me that we'll see each other again," Colette pleaded to Lloyd
"Of course, Colette. I'll search the entire world to find you," Lloyd promised to his only love. Colette briskly brushed the tears from her ocean-blue eyes.
The next day, Colette left her home, for it took a long time to reach the castle. She went to stay with King Kratos. Mithos, King Kratos' son, adored Colette, even though they were both eight. He planned to marry Colette once he got older.
Eight years later, Lloyd began his search for the lovely Colette. Meanwhile, Colette and Mithos began the wedding preparations. However, Colette only loved Lloyd, but she kept that secret for fear of angering Mithos. Days before the wedding, Lloyd found the information he was looking for from a poor, elderly villager.
"Princess Colette, you say. Well, she's living in a castle about a mile away from here. However, her wedding is in five days, so you'd better hurry," he said to Lloyd.
"Thanks, stranger. I'll reward you when I see you again," Lloyd promised. Sadly, word leaked to Mithos that Lloyd was on his way.
"You're my best witches in the kingdom. Don't let anyone but me near Colette until our wedding. If anyone else comes, do away with them immediately," Mithos commanded his witches. Colette also heard that Lloyd was on his way.
"Lloyd, please hurry. I don't want to marry Mithos," Colette prayed anxiously to herself.
Lloyd managed to arrive at the castle the day before the royal wedding and the coronation ceremony afterward to announce Mithos as king.
"Wait for me, Colette. I'm coming for you, my love," Lloyd whispered out loud to himself.
Lloyd had mastered swordplay for the past eight years for Colette. So, Lloyd got rid of the guards with ease. Lloyd soon discovered that Colette's room was being guarded by two witches.
"Get away from her room, witches!" Lloyd cried out. He got rid of the witches with very little resistance. When Lloyd opened the door, the only thing in the room was Colette.
"Lloyd! You came! I knew you'd make it!" Colette embraced Lloyd while tears of joy rushed down her face.
"Let's get out of here, Colette," Lloyd said. He took Colette by the hand and they ran out of the room. Right before they got to the gate, Mithos appeared. He looked as angry as a lion that had failed to capture an antelope.
"Release my fiancé, or you'll die where you stand!" Mithos spat at Lloyd, ready to kill Lloyd in a moments notice.
"I'll never let you get near Colette, it it's the last thing I do," Lloyd calmly pulled out his sword, ready to fight to the death.
"Colette, my dear, would you rather spend your life with this foolish peasant, or live with me in luxury for the rest of your days? I'll give you anything you want, just say the word, and it will be yours," Mithos promised Colette. Mithos hoped that she would choose him over Lloyd.
"Let me and Lloyd leave the castle together. You must also touch neither I nor Lloyd. You promised me whatever I wanted, you can't back out of your word," Colette said to the astonished Mithos.
"Very well, Colette. You'll get what you want, but if I ever see Lloyd's face again, I'll-"
"I don't plan on seeing you again, Prince Charming," Lloyd commented sarcastically to interrupt Mithos on purpose.
Mithos opened the gate for them to leave. The two lovers were once more reunited, and they lived happily ever after.
The End
