It's been a long time since I've written anything and certainly anything short. This was written on my phone so all mistakes are my own and I love them all. Reviews are welcome and thanks for reading
Knocking on the door Andy stepped into Sharon's office, "hi."
Looking up from the last of her paperwork Sharon smiled. "Hi, everything ok?" She didn't want to worry but this case had taken its toll on everyone and it was only Andy's second case back in the field and with every bitter word from Mark Hickman she had worried about his reaction. His blood pressure still ran high as did his temper.
"Yeah I'm just glad this case is over." Nodding Sharon stood and made her way around her desk to stand in front of him. "Now we just need to get Provenza through his wedding."
She smirked, "you'd think after so many he'd be a master."
"I've never seen him so worked up before." Sighing he slipped his hand in his pocket. "Listen Sharon .." She raised a hand cutting him off.
"I know, the job offer. I haven't decided, not really." The offer was amazing, the money, the travel and the football but her life was in LA. Rusty, her job and Andy.
"You know whatever you decide, I'm here and I support you. And if you can get a few free tickets."
The boyish smirk she loved played over his features but she could see deeper than that. Andy had Rusty fooled but she knew him too well, he wanted her to stay. What they had was still new and distance could destroy even the most solid of relationships.
"That wasn't what I was about to say though."
"Oh."
"I know you don't like letters," she swallowed hard and her eyes drifted down to the envelope Andy was clutching tightly. "But I'm not Jack."
Sharon's eyes sapped up and stepped closer resting her hand on his chest. "I know, I do know that Andy."
Smiling softly he held out his hand watching as Sharon's brow creased before she carefully reached out taking the letter.
"Oh I'm also not dead, so ignore that bit."
Gasping quietly Sharon took a step back, "what?"
"I wrote it in the hospital before my surgery I did ask Provenza to .." he trailed off and waved his hand in the air unsure of how to explain. "I didn't want you to have to read a letter." He gave a small shrug it was something he'd found out as her friend just after Jack had left, how each and every time there would be a letter full off excuses and apologies. He didn't want to do that to her.
"You didn't think that ..." She shook her head unable to finish the thought never mind speak it.
"Yeah I'm not twenty five anymore." His eyes flicked to floor before finding her face again. "But I made it and I'm here. I've been trying to find away to say ... to ... I don't know. I do know I just don't know how." He sighed and ran his hand over his face. "I'm not good with words, you know that. I thought this was the best way for both of us. I'm sorry."
She shook her head not sure of what to say.
He gave her a small understanding smile, "I better check on Provenza." Dipping his head he pressed his lips to her check before turning and making his way to the door. With his hand on the door he looked over his shoulder. "There is no rush to read that and it doesn't chance what I said about your job offer. Whatever you decide."
"I know." Waiting for the door to close Sharon moved around her desk and too a seat. Turing the envelope over in her hand she took a deep breath and ripped it open.
