For one
brief instant, she was in my life;
I reached
out to her as she did to me.
Two lost
hearts connected amidst despair.
I voiced
my feelings. She did not return them,
But she
was sure to hold them with respect,
And she
was the first one to give me respect.
She has
moved on now, but I won't forget
How
similar our spirits truly were.
That old
hooligan life I used to live
Is behind
me now; she has seen to that.
The
changes in my life are visible,
And it's
all thanks to her that I've changed.
For she's
returned to the old friends she knew;
Perhaps
I'll have friends like that someday, too.
