Charlie didn't comment on Edward's apparent lack of appetite. He was used to Edward passing on dinner.

"Do you mind if I borrow Bella for the evening?"

I looked at Charlie hopefully. Maybe he had some concept of birthdays as stay-at-home, family affairs-this was my first birthday with him since my mum Renée, has remarried and gone to live in Florida, so I didn't know what to expect.

"Um, I actually had some plans for us tonight"

Edward just sighed.

"I better go tell Alice then"

He looked at me and then walked out of the room.

I got up to start clearing the table and do the dishes when the phone rang.

As I walked to get the phone I noticed that Charlie was smiling.

"Hello"

"Bella"

"Mum"

"Happy birthday darling"

Then the doorbell rang and Charlie hurried off to get it.

"Thanks for the scrapbook"

Then I heard footsteps.

I turned around to see who it was expecting Edward.

But it was Renée and Phil or were my eyes deceiving me.

I had two visions first Edward was going to arrive without Bella because Renée and Phil were going to come to surprise Bella and second when we gave Bella Edward's and my present she would give herself a paper cut.

So I started putting everything away except for the cake and the presents which we would take around to Bella later.

So I was just finishing when Edward walked in. He glanced around before looking at me. It's alright I thought. He looked at me and apologized before turning around to go back to Bella.

Before he could go too far I recalled the visions and then seconds later he was back.

"Change of plans" I asked.

"I'll let Bella have some alone time with Renée and Charlie"

I went back to the kitchen to put the cake in the box but when I went back to the living area Edward wasn't there.

So I slowly went up the stairs to Jasper and my room. As I entered he looked up at me and smiled.

An hour ticked by before my mobile rang as soon as I saw the number I knew who it was.

"Bella"

"Alice do you want come over now"

"Sure, see you soon"

I ran downstairs gathered the cake and the presents in my arm before saying it is time to go.

Everyone came downstairs at once.

I looked at everyone in the eye and said "Bella is going to give herself a paper cut, anyone who can't handle it should not come"

Everyone came except Jasper, Rosalie and Emmet. Since Rose and Emmet couldn't come anyway because they are supposed to be in college Edward would install the radio before we went in so Edward ran ahead of us.

When we got there Bella, Charlie, Renée and Phil had some cake then we gave Bella her presents. When we got to Edward and my present I had the band-aid in hand ready to give it to her at need.

It happened just like my vision and because of my warning no one reacted.
