Lucha Underground
First a little background
Lucha Underground is a professional wrestling TV show, produced and directed by Robert Rodriquez (you may know him as the man who directed "Spy Kids"), the show is aired on Robert's El Rey Network.
The show is technically a wrestling promotion owned by the El Rey Network, this is proven by the fact that it has it's own Championships; they are: The Lucha Underground Championship, the Gift of the Gods Championship and the Trios Championships.
The Lucha Underground Championship is self explanatory, it's the top Championship and is (according to storyline) made of Aztec gold.
The Gift of the Gods Championship is the second highest Championship and it contains seven Aztec medallions. The Championship is similar to WWE's money in the bank in how it works; who ever holds the Gift of the Gods, is guaranteed a shot at the Lucha Underground Championship all they have to do is say when. However when this privilege is used the Championship is immediately vacated (the wrestling term for this is "cashing in") and the seven Aztec medallions are then given too seven other wrestlers, who then wrestle for the medallions in a seven-way match who ever wins is the new Champion. The Trios Championship is also self explanatory, it's like all other Tag team Championships except there are three team members.
Lucha Underground has an amazing roster some of the best wrestlers I have seen. Among them are famous wrestlers from Mexico such as Drago, Fenix, Pentagon Jr, Aero Star, Blue Demon Jr and Mil Muertes (Aka: El Mesias, Judas Mesias and Ricky Banderas). Underground also has great wrestlers from America such as Johnny Mundo (Aka: Johnny Nitro and John Morrison), Prince Puma (Aka: Ricochet).
One of the things I love the most about Lucha Underground is the fact that they do inter-gender matches, the reason for this is too show that women can be just as strong as men.
The current Lucha Underground Champion is Mil Muertes, he is the dominant Champion and has only been defeated twice by Fenix, he became champion by beating Prince Puma.
The current Gift of the Gods Champion is King Cuerno, he defeated Fenix to become champion and was involved in a memorable feud with Drago.
The current Trios Champions are Mil Muertes' Disciples of Death, who defeated Son of Havoc, Ivelisse and Angelico too become champions.
The promotion's on-screen authority figure is a guy called Dario Cuerto, who has a brother known only as "The Monster Matanza Cuerto"; though not much is known about Matanza. The show has finished it's first season and is currently about a quarter of the way through it's second; happily it was recently renewed for a third season, so we should see it continue to rise in popularity.
All in all, I think that Lucha Underground is amazing, many have rated 9/10; I personally however rate 10/10.
