When romeo thinks he's Oedipus..


What would happen if two stories we decided to mix up, that of Romeo and Juliette written by William Shakespeare and that of Oedipus and Jocaste written by Sophocle ? Romeo and Juliet would retain their respective names, however, we may interweave their two tragic endings. It was then that Vth century before Christ, The Capulet, reigning over the city of Thebes, oppose the royal family of Delphi The Montaigu. In the following excerpt, we find Romeo, who had learned from after the death of Juliet, death making was not that a staged, buys poison and ruches to her tomb to die at his side.


Romeo immediately goes to the tomb of Juliet at Thebes and meets Paris, came to bring flowers to his dead girlfriend. Despite the sorrow of both gentlemen, the rivalry is still being felt. A manly dialogue occurs, the accusations fuse to try to convince the other that he is the cause of Juliet's death. They don't leave off, a duel takes place between the two men in love with Juliet. Paris leading the fight, he points his sword on the chest of Romeo and threatens to kill him if he failed to answer his riddle. If he succeeds he will deserve to keep fighting. So Paris declares :

"What be provided with one voice, first four legs, then two legs, and finally three legs"

And without hesitation, Romeo replied:

"The man, in his early childhood because he crawls on his feet and hands, he stands there in adulthood thesis legacy, and in his old age he was using a stick to walk. ยป

While Paris keeps its promise and leaves Romeo stand. Filled with desire to defeat his enemy, Romeo reaches to pierce him with his sword. Paris, dying, asks Romeo to bring him next to Juliet. His human side taking precedence over his desire for vengeance, Romeo agrees.

Head in hands, the unfortunate becomes crazy. Romeo recovers and admires for the last time the majestic beauty of his beloved Juliet, but she's dead. So the pain came over to the point that he blinds himself with his own hands, hoping to forget this vision of horror. Romeo regrets have looked dead Juliet. He should keep in mind a more lively remembrance, but it's too late. Unfortunately, the image persists, the pain too. Romeo decided to end it, he drinks the poison and dies as well.

Friar Lawrence arrives at the scene. He is horrified to discover the body of Romeo. If he had come a few seconds earlier, he could have saved the young man.. But it's not the end of surprises. He's even more shaken when he sees Paris' body.

He tries to pray for these two men, dead because of the death of Juliet that he had himself directed. Unluckily it's an abortive.

He attends Juliet's awakening. Not wanting to cause the death of a third person, he tries to convince her to follow him and take refuge in a convent. But Juliet is too shocked when she discovers Romeo's dead body beside her she didn't even hear him. Juliet collapses. She pretended feeling better and asked Friar Lawrence to leave her alone to bid farewell to Romeo, she would join him later at the convent. Out of respect, he agrees and leaves her alone.

Unfortunately, this is not the true intention of Juliet. She can't continue to live without Romeo and reacts the same way as him. She wants to die at his side.

Having neither poison nor weapons, she courageously decides to hang herself on the tree that is here, with the belt of Romeo.
