My friend Dru gave me the idea for this when we thought of doing a pro/con opinion paper over who is better: Angel or Spike.

I'd Like Him Anyway

Buffy walked into her history class, immediately scanning for her friend. Her eyes found Willow towards the back of the
room, writing in her notebook. The slayer sat down and looked at the paper. Willow was drawing a stake a crossbow in the margin of her notes.

"A nice doodle, Will, but a little conspicuous."

Willow looked up, startled. "Oh, hi Buffy." She glanced at her paper. "I guess that might give the wrong impression."

Buffy nodded in response. The professor started teaching but Willow was still studying her drawing. "Alright, Will. What's going on? You're acting like, well, like me!"

Willow finally looked at her. "I'm not that bad am I?" Buffy swatted at her. "Really, Buff, I'm fine."

"Miss Rosenburg," Professor Rufin interrupted, "are you finished?" Willow ducked her head and nodded. He went back to his lecture.

"Now I know something's wrong," Buffy said. "You get scolded by a teacher and you're not in tears? Talk to me."

Willow smiled at her friend's whining. "It's nothing. I'm just dealing with some things."

"Like what? You're doing great in school, you don't look sick, and you said you were over Tara…" Buffy paused. "You've got a crush!" She watched as her friend blushed. "You do! Who is he?" Buffy covered her mouth. "Oh, Will, sorry, I forgot. I'm trying-really."

"It's alright, Buffy," Willow said, taking pity on her friend, "it is a 'he' this time."

"Well? Who is he?"

"It doesn't matter," Willow said sullenly. "He doesn't see me that way,"

"Oh no, another Xander?"

Willow nodded. "Only Xander never lived with me."

"Lived with you?" Buffy repeated, "Wills…Spike lives with you."

"I know. He made me eggs this morning! He's so sweet, Buffy."

"But this is Spike-" Buffy stopped at when she saw the look on her friend's face. "You really like him?"

"I really do."

"Willow, be rational about this," the slayer pleaded. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to be with a vamp?"

"I can't see any disadvantages," Willow replied.

"I can name ten!"

"Ten?" Willow asked, "Then let's write them down."

"What?"

"We can make a list. If you make a good argument, maybe I'll listen."

Buffy looked at her friend. "Alright…number one: he tried to kill us."

"But he didn't," Willow challenged, "So it's a pro.

"How can that be a pro?" Buffy protested, "I'd think killing would be a con!"

"It shows restraint," Willow said, writing on the paper," What's next?"

"He has a demon."

"But he controls it!" Willow wrote it down, too. "Yet another pro. Next?"

Buffy rolled her eyes. "Alright, he'll stay young, and you will grow old."

"Okay," Willow conceded, "There is one drawback. But I'm sure I could find a way around it. I'm research-girl, remember?
Anyway, one con is not enough. Anything else?"

"He's in love with Dru." Buffy knew that it was a low blow, but it was all she had left. Willow was beginning to persuade her!

"And look how he loves her!" Willow protested. "You can't say you wouldn't kill to have that kind of love. Besides, didn't I say from the beginning he doesn't think of me in that way?"

"Alright," Buffy said, giving up, "I guess I can see one plus- he does have that vampire-stamina."

"Buffy!" Willow scolded.

"Let me see what we have so far." She read Willow's list.

__PRO__
Tried to kill us
Has a demon
Loves Dru
Stamina (Buffy)

__CON__
Stays young, dead

"Willow, seriously. You have to realize Spike is still evil. He loses his chip and we're all dead."

"I'd like him anyway," Willow answered sincerely.

A bell rang and she gathered her books. Buffy watched her friend leave. "Oh, Will," she whispered, "You don't just like him-you love him."
