Sasuke is gone and Kakashi has to comfort Naruto, but he just doesn't understand what's worth crying about. Humor.
Warning: YES. This is slash: Kakanaru. Don't like, don't read.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
"Meow."
A sniffle.
"Meow."
A sob.
"Meow."
A wail.
"Meow!"
The sound of a key going into the front door's lock went through the entire silent apartment, before the door opened with a click.
"Kakashiii!" Naruto wailed, jumping off the couch and running towards the person walking in the door.
Bewildered, Kakashi accepted a crying Naruto into his arms, and held him there as he sobbed into his chest.
"Maa maa, Naruto…what's wrong?"
"Sasuke's gone!"
"Gone? As in…lost?"
"YES!" Another wail from Naruto rang into Kakashi's ear.
"That's…terrible?"
"YES!"
"What…do you want me to do about it?" Kakashi asked drily.
Immediately, Naruto pulled away and glared. "Why do you sound like you don't care?"
"I really don't know…because you know I do."
"You hypocrite! Who was it that was saying those that don't appreciate their friends are scum, but those who don't appreciate their family are worse than scum?"
"Well…" Kakashi drawled. "Sasuke doesn't really count as—"
"Stop right there, Kashi! Animals have feelings, too! Just because Sasuke is a puppy doesn't mean that he isn't family! And now, and now…" a sniffle, "he's gooonne!"
Kakashi hugged Naruto to him. "You're right. I shouldn't have said that." He tilted Naruto's head up with his hand. "How about we go look for him now."
Naruto nodded happily, glad that Kakashi cared. Leaning up, he pecked Kakashi on the lips.
"Meow."
Naruto and Kakashi both looked down at the reddish-pink kitten.
"Sakura," Kakashi said. "Shut up."
"Believe it or not," Naruto said. "She's been quieter than usual without Sasuke around."
"That's hard to believe," Kakashi narrowed his eyes at the loud kitten. "You'd think she'd be louder. 'Crying' or something."
"I think she's trying to make us promise to bring Sasuke back!" Naruto said, smiling slightly. Leaning down a little, he said to the kitten, "I promise to bring Sasuke back. Don't worry!"
Tugging Naruto's hand and pulling him back out the door, Kakashi smiled a little and said, "Let's get going and find Sasuke before our neighbor finds him and corrupts him."
"Orochimaru?"
"Maa…that'd be the one."
